Westlife was an Irish boy band, formed in Dublin in July 1998 and disbanded in 2012. The group comprised Nicky Byrne, Kian Egan, Mark Feehily, Shane Filan and Brian McFadden (who left in 2004). Originally signed by Simon Cowell and managed by Louis Walsh, the band's final line-up was managed by Walsh's fellow The X Factor judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini. Brian left the group in 2004 to pursue a solo career and the group continued as a four-piece until their official split. Westlife sold over 50 million records worldwide, a total that included studio albums, singles, video releases, and compilation albums. They were the first act to have their first seven singles go straight to Number 1 in the UK, breaking the record previously held by The Beatles. They were also the only group to have released three consecutive number one albums in both the UK and Ireland. The group rose to fame with their debut international single "Swear It Again" which topped the charts in Ireland and the UK. Their second single "If I Let You Go" reached number one in several countries including the UK and their debut album was released shortly afterwards titled Westlife which went to number one in the UK and Ireland within weeks. It was quickly followed by Coast to Coast which again topped the charts in both countries and produced two further number one singles "My Love" and "What Makes a Man". In 2002 Westlife achieved a hat-trick of number one singles with "Queen of My Heart", "World of Our Own" and "Bop Bop Baby". They also became the only band ever to have their first eight singles enter the UK chart at number one. Their fourth studio album Turnaround was released shortly afterwards and it too went to number one in both countries producing yet another number one single "Miss Independent". This made Westlife the only band ever to have their first nine singles enter the UK chart at number one. A Greatest Hits collection followed before Westlife took an extended break from music during which time various members tried their hand at solo projects. They reconvened in 2007 for a new album Back Home which once again topped the charts in both countries and produced two number one singles, "Home" and "Us Against the World". In 2009 they released Where We Are which again topped the charts in both countries and produced three number one singles, "What About Now",
