I used a grinder for this and they cut easily which is why I purchased this type of cover. I used a strong clear grab adhesive instead of screws and held the cover in place with duck tape until the glue took hold. I cut down some screws and glued these into the screw holes to give the appearance that the covers are actually screwed in place. Once secure I cleaned them up with a little wire wool. These are very nice covers and as they are flat, they were easily fitted in place. They just seem a little expensive but I am very pleased with the end result. I have 16 of these in place and I doubt I will ever need change any. Good weight, not flimsy and easy to attach with raw plugs and screws via the four corner holes present. Sits flush to the wall - with no gaps for even the tiniest of critters to squeeze through, slim enough - so as not to be obtrusive, and smart looking - as if they have been professionally installed.
