**Q: Does the mitten cover the thumb?  And is it waterproof? thx**
A: With your fingers in a ball (basically a fist) then Yes the mitten covers the thumb. The mitten is pretty waterproof - assuming your in a rain or snow event.

**Q: Does the mitten cover tuck in on the back of the hand so it is completely out of the way?**
A: Yes, the (bright green water & wind  resistant )cover tucks back completely underneath a fabric flap on the glove, so that when not in use, its not visible or obstructive to the gloves. They're a medium warmth glove, that are pretty versatile as a running glove.

These are my second pair in the last five years, not because they wear out but because I use them so much. Just the right thickness combined with the versatility of a hatchback, and throw in hi-viz for added functionality. I use these from low-20s F up to mid-40s F. Only drawback is they’re not waterproof or wind-proof. Light snow is ok but sustained rain doesn’t work. Winds up to 15 mph are ok as well. For the price these are the perfect gloves for me. I wear a medium and my hand circumference is 8”.

This is a cool concept - not as warm as a mitten but nice to have. I run all winter and these have become my go to for all but the coldest days.

I am in law enforcement. I was conducting traffic control during mid ‘30s temps with 20-30 mph winds (Texas). I had to keep the mitten flap off of my right hand for obvious reasons. After an hour, my left hand fingers were perfectly warm. While my right hand wasn’t COLD, I started to feel a chill in my middle, ring, and pinky fingers. All in all, these are really good gloves for 30 ish degree temps if you use the mitten covers.
