The ring in back keeps the phone from slipping out of your hand and is a kick stand. The beaded chain is good to put around your neck. You can talk with it around your neck, but not long enough to text.I gave 4 stars because the case doesn't fit snug around your phone. If you drop the case the phone will definately come out and could potentially damage your phone. I did put a small strip of 2 sided velcro and that seems to fix the problem.
