Review: Worked Perfectly if you Prepare Correctly - Purchased 3x 32" and 9x 24" brackets for my kitchen remodel. We mounted 100+ year old barn lumber onto these successfully. We took off the sheet rock where we wanted these, installed 2x6 between the studs, then installed these on the 2x6, and then finally installed some plywood to flush up against the steel strap. We bricked the wall around the rods and then installed the shelves. Pros: We found these to be heavy duty and could take serious loads. They created a very clean installation which kept people who have looked at it guessing as to how the shelves were mounted on the wall. Installation was straight forward once we figured out how to get the 3/4" inch holes drilled in accurately. Packaging was a sealed bag, steel isn't fragile, so it was adequate for the shipping. Cons: Using a 3/4" bit that I ran about 5" deep into the shelves we found the holes too tight and was a bit tough to get the shelves on. Three factors were a challenge. First, the ends of the rods were finished cleanly, but sharp and could cause binding if the holes weren't perfectly aligned. Had to use a metal file to provide a slight rounding of the edges of a few shelves. Alignment of the rods were not always perfect. What we did to fix that is wiggle the bit left and right to make them easier to slide on up to the last inch or two. We used a rubber mallet to pound the last few inches in for a tight fit. I put a 2.5" thick, 16" x 16" shelf on it. The shelf itself isn't that heavy, but between the shelf and projector, its a decent weight. The seller said since it was static - meaning you arent constantly putting things on/taking things off the shelf - that it would be fine. I have absolutely zero concerns on the stability of the shelf. One thing to look out for - you need a BIG drill bit to make the holes to accept the rods from this bracket. I feel like I have a decent collection of tools, and I didnt have anything even near this size. The bit I got at Lowe's cost about $15 - which got me both the diameter of bit I needed plus the length. A normal size drill bit wont be long enough. The seller might consider bundling an appropriate drill bit with this bracket and it's not a common size/length for a typical DIY'er. I built the 12" deep shelves out of 1/2" MDF & left 3/4 of space in between the layers, with a solid edge. They came out beautifully, and slid right onto the brackets, which I'd mounted to the studs after cutting away the drywall. GRK #9 screws worked well for the pre-drilled holes. They seem incredibly sturdy & I suspect the shelves would easily hold 100#. I had considered TIG welding some similar brackets myself, but my time is valuable & I doubt I could have saved any money. I will be buying these again when I next have floating shelves as part of a design. Edit: I just bought 6 more of them, and the quality is the same.
