## Description

TRENDnet’s high performance AC2200 Tri-Band PoE+ Indoor Wireless Access Point, model TEW-826DAP, features three concurrent WiFi bands to maximize device networking speeds: two separate high performance 802.11ac networks (5GHz1: 867Mbps / 5GHz2: 867Mbps), and a 400Mbps Wireless N network. MU-MIMO technology processes multiple data streams simultaneously, increasing real-time WiFi performance on the WiFi access point when multiple devices access the network. The WiFi access point features advanced access control, QoS, traffic management, band steering, and captive portal support. The low-profile housing design blends into most environments and includes a convenient wall / ceiling mounting plate with cable guard. The TEW-826DAP supports Access Point (AP), Client Bridge, Wireless Distribution System Access Point (WDS AP), WDS Bridge, WDS Station, and Repeater modes Easily manage and configure TRENDnet’s AC2200 Tri-Band WiFi 5 PoE+ Access Point remotely by updating the access point to the latest firmware for access to TRENDnet Hive. TRENDnet Hive is a remote network cloud manager that reduces management time and cost. No additional hardware, server, or personal cloud is required on this WiFI 5 access point with TRENDnet’s reliable cloud service.

Review: Awesome replacement for earlier models. - Getting 600mbps out of these in MESH format, only real complaint is the super bright blue LED.
Review: sooooo many technical details wrong with this, can't recommend - soooo many things wrong. This is with 9/2025 firmware upgrade, 2.08. The Web inteface said it shipped with 1.13 and is (c) 2019. Interesting that the latest is (c) 2023 instead of 2025. After all, it is just a string within the system image, and not all that important. A supposedly AP-specific Wi-Fi PSK is printed on the unit, but no randomized default admin passwd? (also admin). Max length of passwords is only 20, which is pretty good, but makes it seems like it's stored directly and not hashed like it should be. The admin page does let you add admin users. Associating a SSID with a VLAN is hokey (well, not well labelled). Instead of it being just another parameter on the SSID configuration page, you have to go to the "System => Management VLAN" page. The input validation claims a VLAN ID of 1 is invalid. It seemed odd that the "auto" channel was 5 and not 1, 6, or 11, but that could be for accommodation of 40 MHz wide channels. There doesn't seem to be a setting to limit the channel width, in case you wanted to limit to 20. HTTPS is available, but no way to install a certificate, nor generate one, making it insecure anyway. Better than nothing I suppose. After a reboot, redirects to a built-in name, tew-825dap, not the address/name you assigned to it or were using, and always HTTP and not HTTPS. The year is nearly 2026, and the reason you're not supporting modern SSH KEXes is??? (OpenSSH shows "no matching key exchange method found"). Due to its insecurity, WPS shouldn't even be offered, yet it is. At least before I upgraded the firmware, it defaulted to "on." Although this supports IPv6, it seems like a second-class citizen, where you have to select specific items (e.g. IPv6 Status instead of it just being on the main dashboard). it takes 15 seconds or so more to return pings than IPv4 pings after a reboot/poweron. Just about every setting you change briefly shows "Success!", but there doesn't seem to be an indication that you need to save and reboot to take effect. I get it, when you go to the save page, the usual thing you want to do is save and reboot, but not quite sure why you can't save and reboot later. It does take nearly the whole 90 seconds seen in the browser to fully boot, which I guess is OK, but seems long. Can't configure an arbitrary SNTP server, only choose from 6 names. (pool.ntp.org is not a bad choice, just that I ought to be able to configure one which is on my LAN, or be a broadcast listener). Some positives: it offers a built-in or external captive portal. It has guest mode, configurable per SSID. It does allow you to separate clients (whch is, I think, you can only communicate with something on the LAN, not other clients). Although seemingly of limited use, it will MAC filter, and allows you to blacklist and disconnect clients on the tabs of the dashboard page ("blacklist" and "kick" buttons).

## Questions & Answers

**Q: The specs on the trendnet page say the power adapter can be bought separately. where can i buy one? can any generic do?**
A: i didn't even notice whether or not there was a power adapter in the box. I purchased it with the intent to use the Power over Ethernet (PoE) feature of the device. I was replacing an older unit that was no longer working so I just removed the old one, placed the mount, plugged it in and attached it to the wall mount. then I logged into the 5Ghz feature. it comes in 2 and 5 Ghz wireless connection. Works better than my older one to provide wireless internet to my clients on a separate network.

**Q: Need to install an access point in the basement of church where current wireless from the router doesn't reach. Is this a good choice for me?**
A: Sorry, that is a very open ended question. How far is the basement from the router, what materials are the walls and floor made out of, how far do you want to go, are you going to wire it in or try and use it as a repeater?
The 2200 series is a good WAP but doesnt have the distance that others like the 3300/3400 have.

**Q: Is there wifi-client mode? where this acts as a wifi-client to existing wifi, then bridge the network connection to ethernet for non-wifi systems?**
A: Dear AJT!

Thanks for your interest in TRENDnet!

Please note the following Operation Modes
Access Point
Client Bridge
WDS AP
WDS Bridge
WDS Station
Repeater

Hope this helps! If you have any more questions, you can always respond directly to this thread and someone will be happy to try and help answer any additional questions you may have!

Have a great day!
Adrian
TRENDnet CS

**Q: Does this require a poe+ switch or injector or will it work with standard poe?**
A: I use a straight POE injector.
No need for a switch unless I need more connections at the source.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ No WPA 3, iPhone compatibility issues

I wouldn't recommend this vendor. Many of the products are using dated standards. It works but I experienced serious issued with iPhone devices.
