Review: Steel-eating monster. - I bought this to re-bevel blades with my DMT Aligner. I was worried that I should have ordered the XX coarse instead, but I now know that it isn't needed. Maybe if you're trying to grind away something really hard like D2 or ZDP-189 you'll need it, but I don't have anything above 58 or 60 HRC. This things chews through 1095 carbon, 12C27 Sandvik and 8CR13MoV like butter, and has no trouble at all with S30V and VG10.
