My only grievance is that your scabbard could get damaged on the edge when pulling the sword or scabbard out. The edge is somewhat shard and can damage the blade. It is like some sort of particle composite sandwiched in a veneer. You could glue it to a base, that would work better. **Q: I have cement walls in my basement, will this work on them?** A: No, it probably woundn't. It comes with nails but if you have something to nail in the cement then it should in theory. **Q: Would I be able to fit a broadsword with a 5 inch wide blade?** A: I measured the cut out and found that at its deepest, it is ~2 7/8 inches. This will leave a significant portion of your blade exposed (5-inch wide broadsword). From the question you asked, I believe there would also be a significant chance of injury or the blade falling if contact was made with it while in the rack.
