Meltdown

I get really bad hormonal breakouts around my chin and I have very sensitive skin prone to acne around my mouth. I’ve been using this twice a day for about a week or two and I really like it! I mix it with my It Cosmetics Confidence in a Moisturizer and top it off with Tula’s Sunscreen and it gives my skin such a pretty glow. Also, my cycle is about to start and I’ve only had one cystic flare start but started to go down quickly and not be as painful after a day. My chin area does look more clear so I’d say this stuff definitely helps prevent and treat hormonal acne for me. The scent is pretty strong and earthy/medicinal but the Tula Sunscreen scent off sets it enough that it doesn’t bother me. I recommend mixing it with a moisturizer, whenever I didn’t it seemed too oily for my skin. But with the moisturizer it was chef’s kiss! Definitely a new staple in my skin care routine!

Love this oil! It is very light and feels great on the skin. I apply a drop or two with my moisturizer twice a day, and a quick spot treatment as needed. I purchased back on Black Friday and still have plenty of product. Non drying and has a pleasant tea tree smell

This is the first acne product I’ve ever used that actually cleared up/prevented my breakouts without drying my skin out. It is not harsh at all. I am pretty oily in general so I worried using an oil would make me look too greasy or clog my pores, but that has not been a problem with this product. I’ve been using it for a couple years now and I swear by it. I use it every other day to prevent breakouts but I am sure I could use it daily if I wanted without issue.

I bought this for my daughter who has hormonal acne. This was our last product to try before going on Accutane. Sadly it did not work. I gave it a 4 as although it did not work for acne I have been using it as a moisturizer and it leaves my skin soft, so I will continue using.

One star because Blume’s customer service is absolute garbage. Their website claims your order ships in two days, yet *one month* later my item still hadn’t shipped. I emailed them and their response was “it happens” and then they simply stopped acknowledging my emails. This product is good, but I will never buy it again because of the company’s lack of regard for their customers. Apparently they’re too focused on making instagram influencer videos to actually care about the people they’re making the videos for. I switched to Dime Beauty. They have the same blue tansy acne oil for much cheaper. Blume as a company is disappointing. They’re a marketing-based company, which is what the world requires these days, but that doesn’t mean they need to sacrifice customer service and care. Do better, Blume.

I hate to be that person and I am sure that this product has actually helped tons of people with their acne. I was excited to try it because I’ve been experiencing horrible breakouts and am trying every product available to see what sticks (I’m 35). Unfortunately, the other reviewers were right about the scent. It really is too much. I have a sensitive nose but thought, “how bad can 1-2 drops be? So I went ahead and tried it and immediately knew I was not going to be able to keep using this. It smells like cough syrup. If it was simply herbal/citrusy, maybe it would be tolerable, but it’s SWEET and that makes the stench SO strong. And the smell stays. You have to wash your face for it to go away. A moisturizer on top won’t do. Sadly, I am returning immediately. If they ever change the scent, I will be the first one to buy again!

Ok. I’m fairly certain this is the only Amazon review I have ever written. That’s how serious this is lol and it’s not a paid review either. This is real life y’all. The good and the not so good! Hang in there if you’re gonna read the whole review! I have had adult acne for 15 years. Bad. Painful cystic acne. Major redness and melasma. I’ve been embarrassed of my skin for as long as I can remember. Spending a small fortune are various serums, creams, spot treatments, washes, not even the popular 3 step system you used to order on TV worked for me. Nothing. Easily thousands of dollars. And I would spend so much of my day applying layers of foundation and concealer because I was mortified of my skin. If I went out in public without even kids stare or have asked me why I have “owies” on my face. I hated looking in the mirror and avoided my reflection everywhere. It affected me more than anyone in my life ever knew. I don’t know how many times I’ve cried over my face. I’m turning 38 and was just too dang old to be dealing with this nonsense. I found Blume Meltdown Oil on a FB add and instantly thought “Well, this goes against everything I know about acne, and know enough to not put OIL on my OILY face” lol I checked if Amazon had it, and it was only a 2 day shipping (this was a month ago, so I’ve been using it for one month) and I didn’t even want to wait a month, so I popped into Ulta and they had it. Now I’ll order it on repeat from Amazon. I got a basic cleanser from Target, and headed home. I tried it out right away. My first thoughts were that I was not expecting it to be green haha but I didn’t mind, it wasn’t artificially green, just natural. I dabbed about 6 drops around my face and rubbed it in. Some complain about the smell but I LOVE IT!!!!!! Finally something without a noxious perfume smell. That’s the worst. This has an earthy and herbaceous scent. It’s not overbearing and once absorbed you can’t smell anything at all. But again, I love the smell of it. I stared at myself in the mirror and my skin was quite…. Shiny and thought “What have I done?” Lol But I continued this regimen morning and night and only used foundation if I left the house. And yesterday we boasted a small gathering with friends and I did NOT wear foundation!!!!!!! I couldn’t believe it. I thought about it once or twice during the party and felt nervous but got over it. This morning my husband who has never ever once even commented on my complexion and we’ve been married 16 years. He loved me with horrific skin that honestly most would be embarrassed, but he looked past it. Anyway, this morning he was looking over at me and said “Your skin….. your skin looks so….. healthy. Like, wow!” And I’m like “It’s that oil!!!” So I ordered some last week and it’s going on my stocking 😂 My pores that were so big and prominent and shrinking daily. Pesky blackheads are virtually gone, the redness on my face is calmed drastically, and my huge, painful, cystic acne on my forehead, cheeks, chin and neck are G-O-N-E. Even the wrinkles on the sides of my eyes (crows feet) are practically gone, and I used to have serious, deep grooves in my forehead and now they are subtle lines. It’s wild. For the ladies only: I’m at the week of the month when I would see a major increase in acne than other weeks of the month lol and NOTHING. I’m literally feeling like I’m waiting for it to happen but so far, I’m clear! I feel great about turning 38 and if I’m honest I want to order like 10 bottles in case something happens or it sells out lol @Blume Melt Oil, I’m down for a sponsorship 😂😂 For reals. Try it. I know it’s scary to put oil on your oily face but trust the process. I did see increased blemishes the first week or 2 but I think my skin was being purged. The *only* negative review I have, is that you don’t know when the bottle is almost empty. The bottle is beautiful and well made, but maybe if there was a section on the side of the bottle that was clear all the way up just to see where the product was at to know when to order more. That’s my only negative lol so when I look down into it, and it looks much lower, I went and ordered more on Amazon. When I remember, I’ll take an after picture. But just try it!!!!

This is my go to product. I had never used an oil based product before but this product is amazing. I started getting acne in my older age and this helped tremendously, I highly recommend this product.

I bought this with high hopes of clearing up hormonal acne outbreaks after going off birth control (which I was on for 17 years). While it seemed to help some of the inflammation related to the acne and blackheads on my chin, it did nothing to actually clear it, no more so than other, much cheaper facial products. It also really doesn't smell that pleasant, and feels quite heavy, even when mixed with a moisturizer which they say will improve its absorbency. Tl;dr - it's not good nor bad, but you can get similar results from other products for much less.
