Ronseal Interior Varnish Quick Dry Matt White Ash 750ml

I was weirded as lots of people said it was clear but it is definitely a white varnish. Gave a really good finish.

I was recommended this for keeping the yellowness out of my pine bannister. Once sanded I put a couple of coats of this and then some clear varnish and my bannister now looks great. Very happy with the product and have used it on other furniture to keep the wood light in colour.

Does what it says on the tin, and good quality. I should stress, in response to some of the reviews, that this is not a deep stain, but a staining varnish. It isn't whitewash! That means that if you've whitewashed wood, it will enhance the whitewashing, and it will give white accents to the finish of your wood, but it will not - in and of itself - whitewash your wood! If you want to do this on a shoestring, this product is helpful as one element of the process. I suggest dissolving some white emulsion sufficiently, washing this over your wood with a sponge (and wiping off with a cloth to achieve desired aesthetic), and then sealing and accenting with this varnish (this is far quicker and more cost-effective than using white woodstain, which takes something like four coats to achieve anything approaching a whitewashed look). That's what we've done with our pine doors, and they look fantastic. This dries quickly, and you can recoat quickly (though I found one thick coat was fine over our amateur emulsion whitewash).

This Ronseal white varnish product was great for finishing the woodwork in my house. I could not find a varnish anywhere else that would not yellow and change the colour of the painted surface. This product essentially acts like a non-yellow varnish for finishing surfaces ALREADY PAINTED OR STAINED WHITE - a lot of reviewers seem to expect this product to act as a deep stain and varnish in one, it doesn't (it's a varnish) - you have to paint or stain the surface white first and then apply this varnish on top (and the colour stays white not yellow).
