Great Box to Keep your Compact NAS Quite.
I didn’t buy this foam box for its intended use, but it has worked out perfectly for silencing my home NAS. Noise Reduction: I’m running enterprise-grade hard drives that tend to be very loud with constant "clicking" and vibration. Placing the NAS inside this box has made it incredibly quiet. It does a great job of absorbing those low-frequency hums that used to echo through the house. Heat & Airflow: I was initially worried that surrounding the NAS with foam inside a closet would cause it to overheat, but it has been a non-issue. The box provides enough internal space that the temperatures have stayed stable even during heavy file transfers. Setup: The box was very easy to put together—no tools required. The size is exactly what I needed for a 2-bay unit, with just enough extra room to run the cable. Final Verdict: If you have a noisy server or NAS hidden away in a closet or under a desk, this is a much cheaper and more effective solution than buying expensive "silent" specialized cases. It keeps the data safe and the house quiet!

Works great with a Bi-Directional pattern microphone.
This could be considered the poor man's studio. With this box, a Bi-Directional microphone, and something sound absorbing behind you, it is quite possible to achieve near studio quality audio from a single speaker. I set my mic to a Bi-Directional pattern. That's a figure "8". I placed the mic inside the box, with one lobe of the figure "8" facing the back of the box and the other lobe facing me. The effect was that the microphone only hears what is directly in front of it and what is directly behind it. Since the acoustic foam is behind the mic and to all sides, it only hears what is coming from the front. By placing sound absorbing material behind me, that stops almost all echo that might make it into the front of the box and to the mic. The audio that I got was almost flawless. All the room echo seemed to be gone. In fact, my echo-removal plugin detected just enough echo to justify a 2% reduction in the echo. You would have to spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars treating a room with acoustic foam, to get cleaner audio, without post processing. Add to that, the fact that it folds flat, when you aren't using it and the fact that it can be attached to a microphone boom and you have a very inexpensive way to produce top quality spoken audio. For what it does, the ease of setup, I can't imagine a better product for the price.

Good booth but needs customization
It's a nice box for isolation, but any holes for the stand or the XLR cable you need to cut yourself. Cutting a stand hole is unavoidable, but you can use right angle adapters (see picture) to avoid drilling another hole for the XLR cable. Regarding isolation, this booth/box is more effective than those generic shields you see (which does almost nothing). This does make a difference though.

Amazingly Effective
Surprisingly effective. I just remodeled an old bedroom into an office/podcast studio. Oak desk with oak floor. Nothing else. HUGE ECHO. What to do? I tried this to start. Done! I didn’t expect that. Easy set up, ready to go. I highly recommend.

Good noise dampening but
...the quality control is lacking. This is essentially cardboard wrapped with fabric and foam pieces stuffed inside. The 5 foam pieces are all the same exact size and the shape of the box has the same depth as it does width. That means one foam piece is too long and will be stuffed in a manner that will bow out since there is no room. For example, if you install all the foam except the back, the back portion of the box now has a 2" thick perimeter and the back foam needs to be 2" shorter on each side. The box itself is also shoddy construction. The box has a horizontal joint across the entire thing only connected by the fabric. That makes it bendable at that joint and bows due to the weight. Could they have not included a U shape bracket the width of the box so you can slide it in from behind and prevent it from bowing out? The picture shown in my review is only from 2 weeks. Who knows what it will look like in 6 months. The noise dampening itself works, as it should for 2" thick foam surrounding all but the front. However, quality control is half the battle and until they revise their design, I cannot give this more than 3 stars.

This thing does a Great Job!!!
*Please also see video review.* I recently purchased the TroyStudio Portable Sound Recording Vocal Booth Box, and it has exceeded my expectations at this price point! This compact and portable solution is a game-changer for my VO recordings as a part of my travel rig when I hit the road. The sound isolation is remarkable, effectively reducing background noise and echo. The acoustic foam inside appears to be high quality, and ensures excellent sound absorption, resulting in crisp and professional recordings. I appreciate the versatility of this booth box, as it fits various microphone sizes and can be easily assembled or disassembled. Setup is a breeze. The ability to mount it over a mic stand is an added-bonus, even though I'll mostly use it on the desktop. This vocal booth box has significantly improved the overall quality of my recordings when I'm away from my studio. I highly recommend the TroyStudio Portable Sound Recording Vocal Booth Box to anyone seeking a portable and effective solution for achieving pristine audio.

Great isolation for use in uncooperative spaces.
If you know what you're getting - you'll likely not be disappointed. This item will not create a soundproof space. That car outside your open window will still get picked up. This item will help you minimize sound reflection. It has an open face, so you'll have to take another step to minimize reflection there, but for the price this is a good place to start. I'm not a professional in the sense that I do voice recording full time. I have projects that require voiceover occasionally and somehow I got chosen to do them. The TroyStudio portable sound recording booth box cuts down on the awful reflection in my, now, smaller office space. I have to make sure there isn't traffic when I'm doing a take. I have to make sure my cat, Homer, isn't whining on the other side of my office door. But, when the surroundings are working for me, this portable isolator shines. I don't mean to make that sound limiting by any means. Just be aware your surroundings. Added bonus: it comes apart and packs away nicely.

Results
I was expecting middling results. I record in a white walled room that reflects sound quite well, making every recording an exercise in reverb. I got this Troy Studio (full size) in hopes of resolving this. It does. Very well, actually. The reverb is gone. The voice sounds like it come from the void and returns there. It is the sole thing you will hear. Even ambient noise is greatly reduced. The air conditioning and sounds of our neighbors are diminished. I can't argue with results, and here they are. With that being said you are getting a canvas fold-out box and some heavily packaged foam that the instructions recommend you squish in warm water to puff up. I soaked them in my bath tub, gently squishing them. I then used a dryer to un-moisten them. A bit laborious for setup. Stuffing them in the container was easy after this. However, the real challenge is figuring out how you will put your microphone in there. I connected mine through the side hole and put in a stand that rests on the foam. The box is large enough that I can hold my phone inside for reading my lines while I perform, with my brave sound person manning the computer (this box is too big for my desk, so two people became a must). All in all, I can recommend despite the cheap-ish nature of the setup. This works wonders.

Se ve mejor en las fotografías
Las espumas son más pequeñas en las partes laterales y queda espacio hueco, no es igual que en la fotografía, pero si cumple con el objetivo para la grabación!

great portable vocal booth for reducing echo/bounce
Very happy with this sound dampening box. I see from other reviews that there's some confusion on what it's for. It does NOT stop noise escaping – people will still hear you. What it's for, and does really well, is reducing the sound echoes of your voice bouncing back into the microphone from the surfaces of the room. With a duvet or blanket hung up behind you, you can reduce almost all the secondary sounds, making the recorded voice very clean and ideal for applications like audiobooks. It's certainly easier than treating the whole room.
