this is not big size, almost same size as Revell snap kit of X-wing (4 ~5 inch long). And also this kit is not colored.

What is the assembly time?

Painting every piece was the time consuming part, I got it together and painted over a 3 day weekend. I didn't keep track of the time working on it though.

are this model require glue?

Hi, I did not build the model yet but this model does not need glue. This is a typical Bandai snap-fit type model. However, true model builders will still use glue and I suggest using glue regardless. If you just want to build a snap-fit X-Wing and not care much about the detail of the X-Wing then I suggest getting the Revell snap-fit model instead. This Bandai X-Wing is a much higher grade model with excellent detail. Modelers will want to paint this to make this as authentic looking as possible.

After the X-Wing is assembled, does it need to stay on the shelf, or can my kid play with it?

Depends on the level of detail and work you put into it. It is a snap together kit and does come with press on stickers, so you can build it out of the box and have your kid play with it. However, it lends itself well to detailing etc. If you paint it, detail it, etc, then depending on the effort, you may not want to use it as a toy. The question to ask yourself would be, "I just spent 30 to 40 hours painting and assembling this, is it really a toy". Great thing about Bandai models is they can be built either as a toy, or a museum quality display model.
