Watts Premier 20000 Gallon Inline Water Filter 1/4" Brass Connectors

I just installed my second one of these filters. I put one in our previous house that was going great after 3 years when we moved, and I left the filter there. The water at our new house tasted heavily of Texas dirt (compliments of Lake Texoma), even after having been through the refrigerator's internal, new filter. So I bought another of these. The total install was about 30 minutes, which included cleaning behind the refrigerator! No leaks. Put the refrigerator back. Ran a couple of gallons through and gave it a taste test. EXCELLENT results! The improvement was exactly what we wanted. When I bought the previous filter in 2018, I remember that it was rated for 5 years. The new one says to replace after 6 months. 20,000 gallons in 6 months?? No way I'm using that much. I'll use this filter until the water starts tasting bad again, which I'm confident will be close to 6 years than 6 months.

Started using Watts filters around 2000, initially purchased through Home Depot. I install this on the water supply of an older Whirlpool side by side refrigerator ice maker/water dispenser. Believe these are the best outboard filters available and, depending upon usage, will last several years before replacement needed. One caution is be certain that you have installed correctly and that you have a leakproof seal. The instructions say to hand tighten and then use a wrench for a final half turn. That might work if you have a very strong grip but I found that I needed to crank it down around another 1 1/2 turn or so before it stopped leaking. Let me emphasize that you need to check for leaks and continue to carefully tighten until it is sealed properly. When I replaced a filter the first time, I belatedly discovered that it was still slightly leaking...too late and had water damage in an adjacent room (the water had seeped under the baseboard). Not sure what is going on with the pricing, perhaps just supply chain problems, but these were listed at over $100 this last time (early 2024) which is over 3X the amount I paid for the first one. Delayed until it came back down within reason. Current price seems to have stabilized around $40.

Doesn't last 5 years in our house, but works well otherwise. It might be because we use it so much. I'm very physically active, and so is my wife, so we drink a ton of water daily. We go through about 1 of these filters in a year. When I drink water straight from the tap, especially when it's hot outside, I can really taste the chlorine and generally rotten flavor you get with city water. This thing really works to get that taste out of there. We bought a new fridge a year ago and now this works as a pre filter because the fridge has one built in as well. I find that it lasts a few more months without a flavor degradation with that setup. Knocked off a star because 5 years would be out of the question for us with this. Regardless, it's still a great value when compared to bottled water (which on average has poorer quality than even unfiltered tap water), and is certainly much more environmentally friendly.

Who doesn't like a good bargain? I do, you do, we all do so you should like this. This is my third Watts 5 year Filter. I went to Home Depot to buy my latest replacement and they did not carry it anymore. I feared it was not available anymore and was very pleased when I did find it on line and for the same price or close to what I paid three plus years ago. I prefer to replace the filter every three years or so. It does not get heavy usage in our house. It does make Glendale, Arizona water drinkable for me.I still like to chill the water for best flavor but I can drink it without chilling. I use it to make coffee and it is fine to my taste. It is not as good as a three stage reverse osmosis (RO) system but hey it is thirty bucks AND it does not waste water like an RO system and it lasts years. Assuming you already have the setup to use a filter, it is easy to install and all you need to provide are two wrenches or pliers. One warning: In my experience the brass hex nuts that fasten the tubing to the filter need to be tightened more than the instructions say. It says to hand tighten then turn a 1/4 turn with wrench. This is my third filter and it has always leaked at this point. I turn the nuts more until the leaking stops. As with any plumbing I do I watch for leaks for a day or so before feeling confident that all is stable and dry.

Great in line water filter for my KitchenAid freezer. It's good for 20,000 gallons for 5 years even though it says replace yearly. I don't use a lot of ice cubes so I can go the 5 years. Amazon's the only one that carries this type of water filter.

This is the same one I bought before. And I bought it again. So obviously I'm pleased with performance. It kills the chlorine smell/taste entirely. Hopefully it helps with any other stuff that's in there which I can't taste or smell. The old one worked very well. The water still tastes fine after at least a year. Replacing ahead of schedule. Mainly because I didn't want to miss out on the deal. When I complete the installation I will leave the old filter (which will not be expired yet) as a primary stage and the new filter as the secondary stage since it's still good for two or three years. The water should be ultra pure now! The primary stage should make the new filter last longer since the bulk of contaminants are removed before it gets there. That's my theory at least. Two stages will help because technically I use it beyond it's specified flow rate of 0.5 gpm. I custom made a simplistic faucet, sort of like the one that's over the spit bowl at the dentist, next to the fridge for drinking water. I just bent a shepards hook in the 1/4" copper tubing and attached it to a little "T" valve. Werks nice! I used a splitter to supply the faucet and the fridge's icemaker. Next fridge will have the faucet in the door but not sure when that will be . . . Britta is a pain and gets in the way. I never bothered to try it. And look at the size of it, this thing is three times the size of one of those things It's like 2.5 inches in diameter for perspective. A little bit of trouble to install this and you will not have to worry about changing the filter for a long time. Especially easy if you have a fridge with a built in faucet.

Hooked this up to my side-by-side LG fridge/freezer, after about 5 litres of water it cleared up and I've got great tasting water and ice cubes. Does what it says. Filters water.

Works fine. I am using it for the furnace-mounted humidifier to reduce mineral or lime buildup. Wanted this longer-lasting version to reduce the frequency of replacement. Just make sure to tighten fittings securely with pipe dope or tape for a water-tight seal. A body mounting flange or bracket would have been handy but I just used tie straps instead. I also wrote the date on the body of the filter after installation as a reminder of when to replace.

Been using the filter for over 6 months. Easy install except the connectors to the filter are very tight. Hard to connect but this means it won't leak. Worth the Purchase

We are very happy with the filter, it takes out the chlorine taste completely. It is installed underneath the kitchen sink in a tight spot, but that wasn't a problem. Don't know yet for how long the filter will be good, up to now I would say good value for money.
