Iron Gym is long lasting!
I've been using the Iron Gym pull up bar for a long time. The first one lasted me like 10 years of on and off use, and never did me wrong even through several moves. I tried another brand of pull-up bar before coming back to this one because it just wasn't as sturdy as the Iron Gym. I highly recommend this product for push-ups and pull-ups.

Just about perfect so far.
Just what I needed. And the price that I paid on Amazon was actually more affordable than Walmart and a couple of dollars less than it is now. So I guess I ordered mine at the right time, a time where Amazon was feeling a little generous I guess. I've only had this item for like 40 mins, and I had a good feeling about it from the start. Assembly was pretty simple(took about 10-12 mins), and all parts were there except for the ab straps which I don't really need anyway; because with this I can easily improvise. It fits nicely above the closet doorway which is about 2.5 ft wide or about 2ft. 7in., and it holds my weight very well; I'm 180. I still have yet to try it out on a wider door frame, but I'm sure that it will fit above the other doors as well. A very nice tool for fitness enthusiasts and a great way to build strength and muscle when the dumb bell set just isn't enough anymore. A very nice and affordable gift for someone who likes to workout a lot. I've been wanting a chin up bar for a long time, and now I finally have one and I love it. It's so easy to use, another plus. Iron Gym is my new best friend. Highly recommended. Money well spent, what more can I say? ***UPDATE*** After trying this product on 3 different doorways, it works on all 3 and each are different widths. However, I did notice how it will leave small indentations in the side molding of the door frame and sometimes black scuff marks on the paint. The foam grips and padding seem like they might last for a couple of months, but I do intend to improvise when they wear out. I'm about to place a thin piece of padding in between the frame of the door to prevent more serious damage, because I do believe with heavy usage the Iron Gym will do further and more noticeable damage to the door frame. Thinking about my weight, the natural effects of wear and tear and my passion for working out; I'm going to have to take certain measures to ensure that I do not cause serious structural damage to the door frame. This will probably do damage even quicker with heavier people, so keep an eye on the condition of your door frame after every workout. Other than that, it's still a great product that I intend to use every day.

Fits great on my doorways. Sturdy materials to support a large person.
There are so many reviews of the Iron Gym Total Upper Body Workout Bar that I don't know what else I can say, other than the reports of this product's great quality are not exaggerated. After having read several reviews, good and bad, I knew that I needed to establish that my door frames were the right width for the workout bar so I measured the door frame width and the thickness of the molding on the upper part of the door. The door frame was about 32" wide and the molding just under 1/2" thick - which seemed to be right for this product based on the reviews of others, so I ordered it. The Iron Gym Total Upper Body Workout Bar arrived a day earlier than estimated in great condition. There were no signs it had been tampered with or previously opened. It came with the useless "Free Mail in Ab Strap" offer. But since the shipping and handling is $8 and you can get ab straps at Wal-Mart for just as cheap, there was no incentive there. Assembly was very easy. The bolts fit into place with no problems. Previous reviews that mentioned the little wrench that was included being of poor quality were correct. Having read those reviews, I didn't expect much out of it. I hand tightened the bolts in place then used the included wrench to tighten gently without over-stressing the tool. But, still, by the time I was done, it was beginning to warp and wear out. It's a one use only implement, I'm afraid. I finished up tightening using a wrench of my own. Once assembled, I placed it in the doorway to a back room in the house. It held in place just fine and fit square on top of the door frame and flush against the wall on the door hinge side. The pull up bar's padded ends fit square against the door frame with no overhang - just the right size. I was nervous when actually putting my weight on it. I weigh just over 220 lb. I feared the crackling sound of wood moving and breaking and drywall disintegrating. I slowly started putting my weight on the workout bar. No crackles, snaps or pops. It held me and allowed me to do 3/4 of a pullup (I'm a work in progress), a complete chin up and several negative motions. I also just hung from it several times. There was a slight blemishing of the paint on the wall just above the frame - but I can only blame my weight and the materials used in my home's construction. It's not the fault of the workout bar. It's sturdy materials did their job - there was no bending of the bar that I could notice as I tested it out. Time will tell what kind of padding I might need to supplement the placement of the bar. All in all, this is a great piece of equipment. People need to measure their door frame's width and thickness before purchasing the workout bar and assess the quality of their location's construction. P.S. I did not find the metal clip/door frame wedge included in the package to be necessary.

Good workout system for the price but may damage your door frame
I bought this pull up bar because I wanted to strengthen my back more while not having anything screwed into my door frame, so this seemed like a perfect choice. The product is not self assembled when it arrives but it only takes about 15 minutes to put it together so it's not too big of a hassle. The pull up bar itself is constructed from metal and plastic with foam grips on it and it seems sturdy when mounted on the door frame (the box claims it can support up to 300 pounds). I've used it several times already and it was sturdy and comfortable. The various grips allow for a myriad of hand positions, providing you with a thorough back workout. If you're tall however you're definitely going to need to bend your knees (probably the case with every home pull up bar) but it still gets the job done. One con about this pull up bar is that the black foamy grips that press against the door frame leave black marks on the frame. This may cause damage to the paint job on and around the door frame over time if you don't take care of it after every workout. The marks also seems to wipe off, but you should make sure to take care of it as soon as it appears (check after your workouts). Another solution that I've found works is to put tape over the area where the grip meets the frame (I used hockey tape but any kind should work) so that the tape will protect your frame. Overall I recommend this system but found it ironic that the design that was used to prevent damage to your door frame (from screws) causes damage through discoloration and paint damage if not maintained.

Top Quality
This no gimmicky toy. Itโs a solid, built to last, piece of training equipment. I bought it to use on my gym off-days and for travel. It has two grip position points, which are very effective. It has a unique weight distribution configuration that uses the inner frame of the door and doesnโt stress the molding or other exterior points. Itโs simple to assemble, with the included wrench, in a few minutes. Great quality for the price.

Leaves No Excuses
If you're too poor or too busy for the gym but still want to get stronger, this is a terrific "home remedy." The top part rests above the lintel of your door frame and the bar itself is braced against the other side, across the posts. 30 inches or about 75 cm seems to be the limit before there's not enough bar to reach across. Make sure you have at least one foot between the door frame and ceiling for head room. Used with the Armstrong Program, this product works even better than the typical pull-up bar you would find at a public park or gym. I find that my max using this bar at home is invariably one or two more than my max on an eight-and-a-half-foot military bar. Doing pull-ups indoors means your fingers won't be numb from cold or slippery with sweat. Unlike the grip tape that people for some reason apply to pull-up bars, these pads give you traction without ripping your skin off. Don't worry, though; you'll still get some impressive callouses if you use it regularly. Best of all, having a pull-up bar in your own home removes the single biggest obstacle to staying in shape - consistency. You will no longer need to take time out of your day to go to the gym, the park, or the rec center because you can do serious, hours-long workouts at home. If you're having trouble doing that first pull-up, try this: STEP 1: Every time you pass under the doorway, do a "negative pull-up" - hop up to the flexed arm position with your choice of grip and slowly lower yourself down. This uses all of the same muscles as a pull-up, only you don't have to fight gravity. If you're young, male, and at a healthy weight, you should be doing that first pull-up within a week or two. With this thing over your door, working out will become something of a compulsion! STEP 2: Every time you pass under the bar, do a pull-up (overhand grip recommended). If you can do one, do another one. When you can't do any more, do a negative. Use good form - don't cheat yourself by kipping! This reviewer got from zero to seven pull-ups in four weeks this way, just in the course of doing stuff around the house. STEP 3: Once you can do five or six pull-ups in one set, start the Armstrong Program (five days a week with a different workout each day). This reviewer followed it religiously and went from seven to eighteen strict, Marine Corps pull-ups in about eight weeks. If you want a cheap way to improve your upper body strength without leaving the house, give this a try. There's no need to make time to work out - which means no excuses!

light, easy and fully functional
A nice easy to setup piece of equipment. I can do pull-ups and chin-ups without a problem using this piece of equipment. You have a few positions to grab it with, but obviously all of them are very narrow as it's setup in a doorway. If you want to do wider than shoulder grips you can't. I'm only 5.10" and have to really bend my legs at the knees to do full stretch pull-ups. I do have long arms which doesn't help. It's not a problem but takes some getting used to which I just didn't think about before getting it. It's just something I noticed after using it. On the doorway it's nice and sturdy. I did find that you would be on the side opposite the door open side. This leaves me not being able to pull up all the way because it's in a downstairs hallway where the ceiling is just higher than the door. Then I realized all of our hallways have this problem so I'd be stuck without being able to pull up completely to the top. This means you don't get to really at the top and it's more strain in the end. I guess you can look at it from the perspective of you're working harder too. LOL I don't mind just wanted to advise you that it may happen if your ceiling is just barely higher than your doorway like many older homes have. It's very stable and leaves no marks on the doorway. It took a few minutes to screw together and then it's up and running. If you want a simple, economical piece of equipment to do chin-ups with it's great. Just be aware of a few things I've learned after owning it. None of those things stop me from using it and it's easily put away when guests are coming. It's a great simple piece of equipment. I find myself wishing I could somehow go to the other side of the doorway. This would mean I have to remove the door and who wants to do that? It's not going to stop you from using it, but for some doorways it's not optimal.

Low quality, deceptive pictures.
The horizontal chin-up bar consists of two pieces, which fit together loosely and are weak. Despite weighing less than 70 kg (150 lbs), the bar already bends in the middle. Additionally, some promotional images deceptively show a one-piece construction. The plastic bar has square holes designed to retain the bolts and prevent them from turning while tightening the nuts. However, the holes immediately deformed when the lock nuts offered resistance. I had to remove the caps on the elbow bars, use needlenose pliers to hold the bolts in place from the inside, and then tighten the nuts.
