This bag has been perfect for that—it folds up to about the size of a notebook, but unfolds into a full-size hiking backpack. But while it’s foldable, it’s also impressively durable: I took it on a day-long hike and it held up wonderfully. It took a beating from running into sharp rocks several times, and even though it was loaded down, it showed no signs of damage. Hot tip: lay the backpack on the ground and press it fully flat before you begin folding it up.
