Well, I was hoping for, but not expecting, an easy solution to our drain issues and BOY WAS I WRONG. The Populo arrived this morning, I charged the battery, read the instructions (a good thing because of a few need-to-know intricate operating details), ran the cable forward, at center and retracted just to make sure I understood its operation, and went to work on our two tubs which have proved Drano proof. I pressed the power button more gingerly than many would, just to be sure I wasn't forcing anything and both drains were cleared and running freely in less than 20 mins. Easy, easy, easy to use and I couldn't be more satisfied with this purchase.

I don't normally consider writing reviews, but this device was worth it. The compact design with the included battery and charger made it easy to clean out my kitchen drain three times in a row and still have a three-star battery charge remaining. I have always used a 50 ft traditional auger to clean my kitchen drain, but it probably was overkill. Not until it stopped working in the middle of my last clean out, did I ever consider replacing it. I read reviews on this item and decided that it would be worth the cost versus replacing my old electric motor. When it arrived two days later, I plugged it in the charge, and I was ready to go in 30 minutes. I could not believe the ease of using the shifter to move the cleaning line forward and backwards, and how quickly I was able to complete my work. Just for fun and completion, I did it a few more times, just to make sure the drain was optimally cleaned. The ability to hold the device under my kitchen cabinet, and not get tangled in electrical cords, or a dangerous electric motor with a air-powered foot switch, made using this augur a delight. It doesn't stop there. This battery powered auger also came with a carrying case, instructions, and two gloves that fit my extra large hands. I would not have expected gloves to fit my hands that were provided as part of the box, and hadn't considered using them, but they were perfect for this job. I was impressed with the extra touches, and the great packaging of the battery, and the charger. Just to compare, DeWalt charges almost as much money for a battery as what came with this auger, and it had everything needed to start drain cleaning. I've never used this brand before, but will take great interest in what other products they offer. I've typically been a fan of DeWalt but there are 35 ft device cost four times the money, and didn't come with any battery. If all you need is 25 ft, look no further. It'd be really neat if there was a way to add a 10-foot extension to the end of the auger, but I can imagine concerns of length and power. I'm glad I didn't get the plug-in variety, because the convenience of just carrying this and being able to use it and outside drains will be a significant Time saver during the summer.

Updated to 4 star. Saved me a call to the plumber. First one cracked in the drain. It’s not so easy to use but after watching a bunch of videos and being extremely careful was able to declog. I first gave myself 20 min and it wasn’t enough. Second time Sunday afternoon blocked out two hours and took about 45 min. Went in and out about 8 times with nothing and finally pulled out a big clump that must have been pretty deep. It got stuck and I just very slowly retracted. Let it sit watch more videos tried a few more things lol. It wasn’t simple but I’m not a big diyer and eventually got the job done.

I had a Rigid brand before this one and I threw it away. This one did what I want with power! Very easy to use my only complaint is that the charger's Transformer gets hotter than I would like but if it doesn't burn the house down it's okay with me.

Very easy to use

I have a pneumatic plunger also from Populo. It is an excellent piece of equipment and led me to this motorized auger also made by Populo. This auger is an excellent tool. It is well made and should last for many years to come. I had a clog in my toilet that the pneumatic plunger had difficulty to dislodge. As a result I purchased the motorized auger. I eventually dislodged it using the pneumatic plunger but decided to keep the motorized auger anyway for those instances when the pneumatic plunger doesn't work. I like that the auger is self contained. I don't need to use a drill to make it work. It's a little expensive but is worth the money. UPDATE I returned this one and purchased the Populo motorized auger specifically made for toilets. It comes with a tube/sleeve to protect the bowel from scratches when using the motorized metal auger. It is slightly more expensive but again worth it given the quality of the tool and the fact that it won't scratch my toilet bowel.

Terrible battery. The auger does a good job and I really want to give it a good review. However the battery is just terrible. After 5 charges, it now only changes to about 30% maybe less. So it doesn't last long enough to unwind and wind more even once. Very disappointed. What good is the equipment if it cannot be used! Worse yet, I've tried to find a better quality replacement and maybe one with more capacity, but no luck with either. Apparently this is a custom battery with no compatible alternative. If you know of one, please let me know. So, now I have to order another one and when you go to order, on that page, Amazon warns that people frequently return, etc.

Bought this as I’m an engineer and need something easier instead of meddling around with cables. Easy to use, lightweight and just makes my life easier. A little on the expensive side but to be honest compared to other sellers it’s a bargain.

Das Gerät ist auch für nicht Technik affine Menschen leicht zu bedienen, ein Kraftprotz muss man auch nicht sein. Und sie lässt sich wirklich gut über Biegungen einführen. Die Verstopfung lag hinter der Wand und etwas tiefer. Aber nach ca. 10 Durchgängen, bei denen reichlich kalkartige Ablagerungen, größere Stücke und viel kalkiges Sediment heraus kamen lief das Wasser wieder einwandfrei ab. Für mich war's eine Premiere und ein Volltreffer. Klare Kaufempfehlung

Lo compré para arreglar un atasco en el fregadero de mis padres, porque Vinieron dos fontaneros (del seguro, que no les apetecería trabajar) a casa de mis padres y no terminaron de solventar el problema. Me fijé en que tipo de aparatos usaban e indagando por internet encontré esto. Ha funcionado y lo mejor es que vale para futuros atascos y te ahorras tramitar historias con seguros o lo que cuesta el servicio de un desatascador o fontanero.
