Mayne Newport Plus Decorative Mailbox Post, Black

It’s made out of a very thick plastic I assume is some kind of vinyl. It is a plastic sleeve that fits over a 4x4 wooden post. The arm also fits over a wooden insert. The wooden posts and wooden arm insert is not included. You have to go to your home store or lumber supply to buy the wooden posts. Your wooden treated 4x4 is held into the ground by a metal fence post stake that you drive into the ground. The fence post stake is also not included and you will have to buy elsewhere. You buy a little bag of quick set concrete, mix it and pour in down into the ground around the post holder. Let it set overnight or minimum 4hours but follow the instructions for whatever concrete you buy. Then you put the plastic sleeve over the wooden post and use lag bolts to attach for added security at the back of the arm underneath. Then you set your mailbox on the arm using a metal support plate which you also buy extra. I had to bend the edges of my metal support flat before attaching it to the arm due to the mailbox I chose (also sold by Amazon) being so wide. This hollow plastic post (I call it a sleeve) is good looking and functional when installed correctly. I recommend.

Looks great when completed but the mailbox wobbles too much. They need a better solution for attaching the horizontal mailbox post to the vertical support post. I expected a better product, disappointed..... Update, surprising impressed with their support follow up. After reading reviews indicating little or no support, I was pleasantly surprised. Thumbs up! :-)

Expensive disappointment This mailbox post looks very nice but it wobbles horribly. I can’t open my mailbox without one hand stabilizing the mailbox. No instructions were included. I called customer service and they seemed helpful and thought I was possibly missing a part or two. They asked me to text a video of the post to see if they assess what was wrong. I texted the video- no response. I then called back and they said they never received a video so I emailed them the video asking for guidance. Still no response. So, no directions, possible missing parts and lacking customer service. I wish I could buy a different brand and install that but I’m out the $200 this cost me plus the install.

I couldn’t be happier with this mailbox post! The installation was surprisingly simple and only took a short time. The install was basically to post hole dig the hole, set a pressure treated post in cement, cut the post to length and then slip the post on and mount the box holder What really impressed me is how high-end it looks once in place—the design is clean, sturdy, and instantly upgraded the curb appeal. The materials feel strong and durable, and it has the look of a custom piece without the hefty price tag or hours of labor in the shop. I’ve already had neighbors ask where it’s from. Highly recommend if you want something easy to set up but with a premium look!

I’ve always had just a wooden post for my mailbox, but figured I’d try to spice it up a bit. This Mayne mailbox post is pretty decent for the price. Although it’s plastic, it seems sturdy enough and I really like the style of it. It fit over my wooden post perfectly and was easy to assemble. Only minor issue is that the arm isn’t very securely attached to the post with the amount of screws they give you, so we added a few more and that did the trick.

Nice looking post but if you have an xl mailbox it will be too heavy for the plastic support piece that comes with it. We bought a black steel support piece to go under ours and attach directly to the 4x4 through the plastic cover. So far that is working nicely. We made it work and still looks very nice. Just a bit more expensive route than I was looking for.

Great mailbox post! It looks like real wood. It has held up well for a few years now in our tough 4-season climate. I clean it once or twice a year to keep it crisp and white, and it cleans easily. I planted hardy red hibiscus flowers next to it for a real show-stopper!

Well, this is all I've recever and was supposed to be my second full height mailbox stand. The first one was the same price at $120+ CDN, is perfect, great quality and wow. This second one is about one third of the parts of the first one for the similar price of $120 CDN. This one was delivered 2 days ago and is quite oncomplete, hence useless so being returned as incomplete. I truly wonder who would send this one part only. UPS has confirmed that no other parts have been shipped.

Awesome, pop it over a 4x4 pressure treated piece of wood looks awesome with our over sized rural mailbox. Quick delivery. Way better pricing then in local hardware stores.
