Among the Best of the Bleach Manga
There are lots of Bleach volumes out there, 53 when I wrote this. In my opinion, this is one of the best. The past few volumes have had relatively little story and so will the next few. But, this one is almost only story. It explains so much about the past and is one of the most interesting of all volumes. If you are new to this series or manga, start with the first volume. These are not like American comics, the story is ongoing and starts at the beginning. Anyone who is a shounen fan should at least try this series.

One of the Best Ever
This series is almost unequaled in its depth of characters, its storylines, and its length. A well written almost never ending tale of action adventure love betrayal death and almost everything human. Buy the manga, Buy the movies, Buy the dvd's. If you can find it on blu-ray pick it up and keep it forever. Its certainly worth it.

Another win for Kubo!
If you're a Bleach fan, this is a must read. If not, you should start with volume 1. It's a great story, but it won't make any sense if you start here. If you like Naruto, One Piece, Hitman Reborn, or Gintama, I'd recommend giving this story a try.

Turn Back The Pendulum!
Bleach volume 36 contains chapters -108 to -100. Yes, you read that right. Those are minus numbered chapters as this is all in the past.It is rated T for Teen due to fantasy violence. This is my favourite volume as it answers so many questions about the past! It contains the start of the "Turn Back The Pendulum" arc. It's an easy volume to read on it's own without having to look at what happened in the previous volume. But you will have to read the next volume as it continues and finishes there.Volume 36 is set 110 years before the start of the series when the Visoreds are high-ranking Soul Reapers and Sosuke Aizen is the assistant captain of the 5th squad (Shinji Hirako, as seen on the cover with long hair, is the captain of the 5th squad.)This volume starts off with an induction ceremony for the newly promoted captain of the 12th squad, Kisuke Urahara. He begins to turn the 12th division into a research and development department by releasing Mayuri Kurotsuchi from his cell and asking for his help.We then skip forward 9 years to when strange disappearances were happening in Soul Society. And we see how the Visoreds originally got their powers!I loved being able to see some of the characters when they were young! My favourite part was seeing a young Byakuya being toyed with by Yoruichi. Back then he had a short temper, the complete opposite of how he is now! Plus the young prodigy, Gin Ichimaru was so cute! It's been a while since I've enjoyed a Bleach volume as much as this one. The art is excellent, even the backgrounds! This volume has a good balance of comedy, fighting scenes and tragedy. I hope this pace is kept up in the future. At the end of the book are the results for the fourth Bleach popularity poll! There were over 90,000 votes in total!I would recommend having some knowledge about Bleach before reading this if you haven't already read the previous volumes. Otherwise I don't think you would enjoy it as much.

Turn Back the Pendulum
One hundred and ten years ago Kisuke Urahara is being made captain of Twelfth Company and has great plans but he cannot seem to get along with his Assistant Captain, Hiyori Sarugaki. Nine years later there are a string of mysterious disappearances in the Rukongai and when a force of Soul Reapers is sent to investigate all contact with them is lost. The origin story of the Visored, the Turn Back the Pendulum arc is probably one of my favourites from the entire `Bleach' series. Set more than a century before the action of the main story, this arc includes some nice information on the histories of many of the characters in the series. It is particularly fun to see Byakuya, Gin, Hisagi, and Nanao as children and to see who has changed in the past hundred years and who has stayed the same. Another interesting part is seeing what Mayuri Kurotsuchi was doing before Urahara chose him as Assistant Head of the new Research and Development Department. This was a very entertaining volume of `Bleach' with some nice information, backstory and some interesting fights that is well worth a full five stars.
