Review: Great sound quality, hands down beats Pyle. Tripath based amp are amazing value. - This is the same unit as others on desertcart under the model number Lepy/Lepai 2020A T-class amp. This seller just sells it for cheaper. The box was surprisingly well packed, using soft foam material instead of styrofoam. It's easy to pack it up again and transport it if needed. The sound quality is VERY VERY good, considering this price point. This is the 3rd of these small T-class amps I've purchased, and I'll compare each of them. -First one is Topping TP32EX with TK2050 amp, rated for 50W but at 10% THD+N at 4ohm. I wrote a thorough review of that product, and found the maximum usable power is only about 10W per channel at 8ohm before it starts to distort too much. The TP32EX is 7 TIMES more expensive, but the sound quality is excellent and the USB DAC + Headphone Amp all in one device serves a different purpose than this Lepy. -Second one I tried and immediately returned is Pyle PFA400U 100W with who knows what T-class amp it has (they don't want to list it). I wrote a thorough review of that as well. It has HORRIBLE sound quality, completely unusable due to the distortion of mid bass starting at 20% volume. I didn't know how bad an amp can sound until I heard the Pyle of crap. This Lepy is the 3rd unit I purchased, which will be used at the office to drive a small pair of bookshelves. I tested the amp with Elac B6, Polk RTi-4, and an old Infinity US-1 Satellite speakers for the heck of it. The sound quality is worlds apart compared to the Pyle, and I was pleasantly surprised to find out there's little to no distortion even at maximum volume. It actually gets louder than the TP32EX even though that unit is marketed as higher power. They sound very different, however. Testing with both the B6 and RTi-4, the Lepy sounded warmer and bass was over pronounced compared to the TP32EX. The TP32EX in comparison sounded much tamer, and especially the details of mids on the B6 were present. At higher volumes with the B6 (which are known to be pretty flat speakers), the TP32EX maintained the balance well and nothing was overpowering. On this Lepy however, the boomy bass took over past 50% volume and started sounding muddy it became harder to focus on the details of the highs. In the end, I would hands down recommend this unit. For the price, especially from this seller, it's a great deal. It's the cheapest TA2020A based amp that I could find on desertcart, and I'm glad I picked this up. With the RTi-4s, which only has a 5.25" drivers, the bass was not as overpowering and it was pleasant to listen to at 50-75% volume. At lower volume, it sounded a little better than the TP32EX which was a bit hollow on the RTi-4. We'll see how long any of these Chinese made units last, but the Lepy did not even get warm when listening to at normal volumes (as loud as you'd want in an office). And I'm sure it will work in a pinch at the next office party, if you needed it to go louder.
Review: Just the ticket for my RV HDTV installation. - I recently bought a used motorhome that had a standard definition CRT television as its "entertanment center." Well, that had to go! I replaced it with a flat screen HDTV. The original TV had a small amplifier retrofitted inside its case, hooked up to the TV's earphone jack which fed into the motorhome's living area speakers. I tried hooking up the earphone jack on the new TV to the speaker feed, and as expected, the TV didn't have enough oomph to drive the speakers. I decided to look for an external amp rather than pull apart the old TV and retrofit its amp. I saw that this Lepai amp has a mini plug input (for an mp3 player) that also would serve as an input from the HDTV's earphone jack, which would make hooking it up a snap. Most of the reviews were good for the amp, so I ordered one. I'm glad I did. I connected the speaker feeds to the amp, plugged in the earphone lead, and powered up the amp. Result? I have good sound quality and plenty of volume from the system. I installed a Blu-ray player, running an HDMI cable to the TV, and am able to play movies and CDs though the TV as well. Granted, the sound quality isn't what you would experience from your home theater, but for an RV, this system is just the ticket. The unit looks good. The mounting flange keeps it from coming loose in a moving vehicle. The amp is small and light, doesn't generate a lot of heat, and has a lighted volume knob that helps prevent forgetting to turn it off when not in use. (Important when running off a battery/inverter system in the boonies.) For a reasonable cost, I have a flat screen HDTV, a Blu-ray player, and an amp installed in my RV. Not too bad. My Lepai unit does not have any of the build issues I see posted in other reviews. The speaker, RCA, and mini-plug connectors are all solid. The volume knob turns smoothly and is firmly anchored in the case. I have about 30 hours on the system so far and have had no problems. I understand that I may have been "lucky" to get a better-built unit than some others. I have bought several small electronics that have had good reviews only to find that I was an "unlucky" purchaser who received a lemon. My advice is to check out everything right away, and if there is a problem, return it right away. desertcart has been good to me with returns and refunds and I expect that you would have the same experience. For a home system in a larger space, I'd probably rate it 4 stars, as there is some distortion at high volumes. I give this amp 5 stars based on it being installed in my RV using the RV's existing speakers. It is just the ticket for this application. Good luck and perhaps I'll see you out on the road.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Acceptable for casual listening
*by R***E on January 9, 2015*

I got this amplifier to pair it with the Micca MB42 speakers in my office, and it's running in that setup right now. I didn't read many reviews of this beforehand as I didn't think a ton of research would make much difference at this price point, so I pulled the trigger on something within my budget that had overall good ratings. To start things off; the appearance and build construction while boring can be pretty important to some users. The appearance is just what you see in the picture, it's fairly small and looks about as cheap as it costs. At least it's small enough to hide a bit. The build construction is what I expected. Everything seems to be cheap, but well-assembled. Nothing is loose or wiggly beyond reason and I don't see any true weak spots just yet. On to audio quality... the interesting part. The overall impression that I get is a bit muddy but generally well-balanced at low to mid levels of volume. Anything beyond about halfway on the volume knob is fraught with distortion, though with the Micca speakers as efficient as they are I don't find that level to be reasonable for casual listening. The tone/direct switch should be left on direct... or in all honesty completely removed from the amplifier. The second I turn that switch on to 'tone' any thought of muddiness that I had before explodes into an overwhelming sound of muddiness. It destroys the sound, even at neutral levels. If I adjust anything it's just a good way to destroy both the balance and what bit of clarity you had left. I am left to believe that these features are only there to entice buyers, but should never in any way be used. Overall, this amplifier will work for it's intended purpose and at a price where I can forgive most of the issues. If you are looking for discerning audio quality look elsewhere, if you want computer speakers that make reasonably acceptable sound then look no further. I would definitely spend more if I was using this for my primary listening setup, but to save some money and a bit of space this works fairly well.
