Great buy! Love it!
I am a beginner at pressure canning. The well written Instructions gave me piece of mind that I was canning correctly. This canner works very well!

Always a good thing
You can never go wrong with a Presto pressure canner. Reliable quality and performance make preserving your harvest an easy task. It fits 7 wide mouth quart jars, can be used for water bath canning as well. Too bad it doesn’t come with a jar lifter basket and only comes with a 15dpi weight. I ordered an extra 5/10/15 dpi set for 9.99.

Well built, safe canner. Happy with the purchase
Quality canner and solidly made. I used this to can ground beef and chicken. Everything worked well and I used the weighted gauge instead of the temperature gauge. Worked as advertised and I was very happy with the purchase. I did buy extra gaskets for down the line. The best part is it is solid but not super heavy like the All American.

Top quality
Not sure how it would handle flame top stoves, but it works great on my glass top. Presto still making things the old fashioned USA way.

Great Canner for the Money, Not Quite Perfect
My wife wanted a pressure canner, and after looking at all of the various models, this is the best for the money. Unfortunately, it was hard to get. We had decided on the Presto 01781 when we discovered this model, the 01784 Induction Compatible model. Even if you don't have an induction stove, the stainless steel clad bottom provides more even heating and is a little heavier duty. Unable to find it anywhere, including on Amazon, I ordered it directly from Presto who were also out of stock, but they said that they were expecting a shipment around the end of July, 2020. On the morning of July 15, 2020, Amazon suddenly had the 01784 in stock. I ordered it and it was delivered on July 17, 2020. On July 16, 2020, the listing on Amazon once again said, "Currently unavailable. We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock." Also, in the meantime, the canner that I purchased directly from Presto 2 months earlier arrived a week after the one from Amazon. It's for sale. We started using it the next day canning 2 gallons of chili (16 pint jars) in one load. The next day, my wife canned a bunch of green beans, mixed vegetables, and peppers, all things you can't can with a water bath canner. I encourage anyone buying this pressure canner/cooker to also buy the Presto Canner Pressure Regulator OEM Part Number 50332. This gives you the option of 5, 10 or 15 pounds pressure. An additional canning rack is also necessary if you want to stack the jars. There is a 2-pack available on Amazon of 11" canning racks with detachable legs. The 1.9" legs will put the jars just above the water which in my opinion is better than having just the bottom 3/4" of the jar setting in the water with the rest of the jar out. The single 15 pound regulator and no second rack being included is why I only give this pressure canner 4 stars. Other than that, its a great canner. Spend a few more bucks on a regulator and a rack and you can make it perfect.

This induction pressure cooker works very well with large capacity for canning.
Dislikes: The canner came with only a 5 psi weight jiggler only. Canned meat recipes require at least 10 PSI at sea level for many recipes. Prepare to buy additional weights to suit your needs. I purchased an adjustable weight (not Presto brand). Testing the weight with the canner, I found it was actually a little too heavy, providing about 12 psi instead of 10, but higher pressure will still result in a safe canning process at the recipe stated processing time. If you are at a higher altitude than me, this weight may actually achieve the proper pressure for you. *************** WARNING: Nothing I say here should be construed to contradict or stray from properly published and tested recipes. For food safety, you MUST follow properly tested recipes from authoritative sources with regard to actual recipe instructions and processing time. Any deviation from the recipe can affect the heat transmission within the canning jars with the resultant risk of food poisoning. Something as simple as adding flour to a tested recipe can prevent the food in the center of the jar from achieving the proper temperature and time to assure destruction of botulism spores. ***************** Likes: I use this canner exclusively with an induction cooktop. My cooktop has sufficient control to keep the canner at the correct temperature/pressure once it has reached proper pressure. Excessive heat once you reach the processing pressure will result in excessive water loss during processing. I also wrap a heavy towel around the canner sides to insulate it during the cooking process. I use binder clips to hold it in place and never cover the top lid, since the jiggler weight and safety pressure release plug must be clear of any obstructions. Since the induction unit produces no heat or flame, there is no danger of fire. In addition, the insulation helps the canner heat more evenly as it's rising to proper temperature and pressure. During processing, the towel reduces the heat lost to the surrounding air during processing. Some reviewers have experienced problems with the canner including failure to seal or warped bases. While I have only used the canner about 7 or 8 times, I experienced none of these problems. It is important to put in the proper amount of water before starting. If the unit boils off all the water during processing, the food batch will be unsafe and ruined, and you can certainly cause the canner base to warp. That is why you must monitor the canner during processing time to make sure that the canner remains at the required pressure throughout the processing time, and to make sure you are not boiling off the water excessively. My induction cooktop has a timer that I set once processing pressure is reached in order to shut down the cooktop at the end of the processing time. This does not relieve you of monitoring the process to assure that pressure never drops below the recipe requirement during the entire process. I never experienced failure of the top to seal with this unit, but I did have that happen with a pressure cooker. I believe this results from uneven heating or heating too fast when coming up to proper pressure. Because of my use of the towel for insulation plus the size and large capacity of this Presto unit, I don't believe that will be a problem. My induction cooktop is only 1,500 watts, which limits the amount of heat during initial heating. If you ever experience seal failure and a dirty seal or debris is not the cause, try using lower power while bringing the unit up to processing pressure. Overall, this unit does what it's supposed to and will allow you (with the proper jiggler weights) to process food from any canning recipe.

Presto Induction Canner
We have used a presto pressure canner for over 50 years. Our new kitchen range (induction) will not work on the old canner. The new canner was received quickly and was easy to assemble. To check the canner's working ability, we added two quarts of water to the canner and placed it on the induction burner of the appropriate size. The canner reached full pressure very quickly and the locking mechanisim worked perfectly. The canner reach 15 psi in under 3 minutes. The burner was easy to adjust and the canner held 15 psi for 10 minutes at a low heat setting. Excellent product. We are very pleased with our purchase.
