I put mine on indoor furniture....but It dries beautifully and leaves a hard coating. The best wood for Hope is, of course, teak or a very hard wood. My wood was so dry I wound up putting on several coats....it kept soaking in and disappearing. The bench I covered was a very old Thai teak log of some kind. **Q: Can this be used on outdoor wicker furniture?** A: Hope's Tung Oil may be suitable for use on wicker furniture but we don't have first hand experience with it. I would recommend seeking additional information from a wicker furniture maker/expert and, if it makes sense, trying it on a small spot to see if you get the results you expect. **Q: Can this product be used to seal stone?** A: Most stone's porosity is exceedingly low, so you're looking at only a surface coat with tung oil. Hope this isn't a fireplace, hearth, or firepit. What might work better is a (shudder) tung oil finish, which contains a littlevtung oil and a bunch of polymers. Might give you better UV protection so you wouldn't have to re-emulsify more as often (yes tung oil finish re-emulsifies; I've experimented with it, but not on stone). Try the internet, filters "tung oil and stone", and see what you get. Remember that just about anything you use will be flammable. **Q: Do you have to dilute it? I'm planning on using it on teak. The salesperson said to dilute it because teak is so dense.** A: The salesman is correct. A 2:1 diluted solution (as recommended on the Hope label) will penetrate further into the wood, giving superior durability and a better looking result. On a dense wood like teak, you may even want to do the first coat at 4:1. Then continue with 2:1 coats until you are happy with the results, buffing with fine steel wool between each coat.More coats equals more work, but is worth doing for items like fine furniture. I put 5 diluted coats on an end table which looks great. But for the pepper mill in the kitchen I put on a single coat, undiluted. It looks good too, but I can easily see the difference if I set it down on the end table. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Actually 100% Pure Tung Oil *by on Reviewed in the United States 24 August 2026* Great stuff and worked amazing. Really brought out the natural grain pattern on my curly birch wood knife scales and should help protect them from moisture. Added a nice amber color to the wood while not making it overly dark. I did 5 coats, 1 coat a day for 60mins for 5 days amd it turned out great. I added before and after photos, should be easy to tell which are which.It's very easy to use just wipe on a thin layer and wipe off fully after 60mins. If the wood is soaking it in fast you can add another layer during that 60mins, but be sure to wipe it off fully after 60mins. Tung oil is a natural oil and will not dry like a stain or paint if you leave a layer on. You should wait 12-24hrs between coats to give the oil time to sink deeper into the wood. You can do as many coats as you would like, but once the wood stops absorbing the oil it's pointless to add more in my opinion. You can mix 1:1 with some mineral spirits to help it soak deeper into the wood for your first coat which is what I did, this works good if you have a dense wood as tung oil is a bit thick like maple syrup.Pure tung oil takes 2-4 weeks to fully dry and cure fully so keep that in mind. Once fully cured it polymerizes and forms a hard natural plastic like structure inside the wood grain, this is what helps protect the wood from moisture.Hope's is a bit spendy compared to other brands, but some of those other brands might not even be pure tung oil and mixed with other solvents or chemicals. At least with Hope's you know you're actually getting 100% pure tung oil. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 100 aceite tung...
