Review: A nice improvement over the original CotourRoam - I had purchased the original ContourRoam camera about a week before they announced this one. Luckily I had saved my packaging so I returned it and bought the ContourRoam2. There are some small but very worthwhile changes to this camera that make it a better choice. First, of course, is the 60 fps video option. I haven't had a chance to test that yet but it's a nice addition and the main reason I went with the 2. Next, there is a locking button on the recording slider. This is useful to avoid either accidental starts or stops, as it locks in both positions. The printed numbers on the lens barrel are clearer, brighter, and far easier to see. The card formatting is now done by pushing and holding a small button. In the previous model you had to use the supplied tool or a paper clip and stick it into a hole to format the card. The new ContourRoam 2 also came with a nifty little cloth bag that has an attached lens cloth and a small pocket to hold the included memory micro SD card and micro SD to SD adapter. All-in-all a few small improvements that make a great little video camera even better! Review: Amazing little camera! - This little camera is amazing. The battery life is fantastic, the video quality is the best for the price but the thing that stands out is the ease of use in any situation. The Contour mount system combined with the standard tripod mount gives you endless possibilities to get creative, and finally that single switch is incredibly easy to use. That said there are areas for improvement, the audio quality is ok for the price but could be a little better especially in windy situations. Also Contour should develop an app to be able to make adjustments on the go using a cable and a mobile device (tablet or smartphone) much like the app for the Contour+2 that uses bluetooth. I would definitely recommend this camera! ### ⭐⭐⭐ Good, but not great. *by J***W on May 5, 2015* Crossed shopped for a Helmet Cam for several months, read all of the reviews for Go Pro, Contour, Ion, etc. Decided that the picture quality and ease of use for the Contour was excellent considering the $100 price tag for the ROAM 2. The ease of use cannot be beat. Simply slide the switch on the top forward to start filming, slide it back to stop. Its very light and mounted easily on the side of my Bell K-1 Sport helmet. The software for processing the videos installs easy and is simple to use. It was very intuitive and I was uploading and using their entry level editing tools with out any fuss. However, after using it to record several Go Kart races on Dirt Ovals at night and Road Courses during the day I seem to have found where the difference is in the extra $300 for something like a Go Pro Hero 4. There is no image stabilization, so every bounce, bump, and jolt comes through on the video. Do not get me wrong, the picture (during daylight) is crystal clear with great resolution and very good white balance for an amateur video take like myself. The problem is that the video is so bouncy that you get a headache from watching it. In a racing kart with no suspension, the issue is magnified greatly. I also ran into some problems with low light shooting. At our dirt oval, the front stretch has very good lighting, and the back straight is just better than dark. The video portion on the front straight is clear for night time shooting in the track lights. The back stretch portion is pretty much a black screen and you cannot distinguish any features. I left the camera in auto for all settings, so maybe there is something I can tweak for the night races under the lights. All in all, the camera is not bad. However, I wished I had spent more on a higher model camera that had the image stabilization feature built in. The picture quality is great for someone who is going to mount the camera to something that will not be bouncing over constant bumps. However the shaky video renders the camera useless for my application. Pros - Super easy to use Super easy set up Very clear, bright video with out having to mess with the settings Camera's dimensions are ideal for a racing helmet. Cons- No image stabilization, bouncy video. Essentially renders the camera useless for my application in Go Kart racing.
