I sharpened a knife of my brand new quartz counter and it scratched the hell out of it. It's a huge design flaw IMO. **Q: Any current owner interested in parting with theres?** A: It is difficult to explain how awkward this is to use. I gave mine to a friend. After he uses it once, he will probably put it away in a closet somewhere and forget about it. Or give it to someone else, who will be excited to receive it. At first. I call it a gimmick. Did that help any? **Q: Can this be adjusted to roughly 7-8° for sharpening a much needed straight razor that has dulled, or will the plastic grabbers get in the way?** A: I am not sure. However I think that the thickness of the holder will prevent you from getting to 8 degrees. At 17 degrees, it is getting close. **Q: How does this affect your actual stones? Does it leave a groove,/ damage the stone?** A: I have not used it enough to know but I thought it did not actually touch the small stone I was using. It was more off to the side. That being said, I did not find this device to be that practical.
