To my knowledge the only drama series with a trading back drop that lasted more than 1-season!

Too bad only the 1st season (of the 5-year run) is commercially available. I was able to score seasons 2-5 from another source. There was an old cable channel called TRIO where I first caught a few episodes and got hooked.Character driven drama that follows the trials and tribulations of "smallish" investment/trading firm Gardner Ross. The firm is somewhat profitable, though to remain both relevant to their customers and avoid being taken over, they are in constant need of capital. When senior partner Cedric Ross is jailed, he convinces his daughter to leave academia to represent his position in keeping the firm intact and to stave off his partner Adam Cunningham, who for personal reasons supports a takeover.Jack Larkin is is an experienced trader plying his trade at the "rough and tumble" Vancouver Exchange, but has a desire to move into investment banking and work on "Bay Street" (AKA Canada's Wall Street). In order to essentially buy his way into Gardner Ross, Jack steals away an IPO from a rival by guaranteeing greater proceeds. Unfortunately, primarily due to forged alliances, the investment syndicate falls apart and Gardner Ross finds itself responsible for having to place almost the entire issue of the new stock. If they cannot place the stock in the open market, GR could lose all their capital to meet their commitment to client.Head trader Marty Stephens to the rescue. Marty turns lemons into lemonade, making a large profit for GR by playing spin doctor and generating demand for the new issueIf you are not into to finance, the character drama will draw you and you will like the show. If you are marginally interested in finance, you will be drawn in by the character drama, find the realistic back drop interesting and will love the show! Finally, if you work in finance or in a related trade, you will be drawn in by the character drama, find the realistic back drop interesting, will greatly appreciate the fact that what you do has made it into some form of watchable media and will put this show at higher end of whatever ranking metric you use!

    A pleasant surprise; nerdy entertainment

*by P***O on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on November 13, 2013*

I am no TV fan. This little Canadian gem caught my eye, though, and as a fan of the financial drama type genre (and here I am thinking for example of the original "Wall Street," and to some extent "American Psycho," in its more tame moments), I gave it a whirl. Here we have a very wide range of personalities thrown into an investment bank/trading firm, shaken and stirred. There are nefarious schemers, a clown or two (the "derivatives genius" idiot savant is unbelievably silly), and a 1990s look (transitional from open call type era forward, with some archaic computers). Of course plenty of collision courses are set in motion. It's relaxing, and I'm sure the direct participants would find plenty of flaws and absurdities. But I will watch it through again.

    We Want More!

*by A***U on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on February 15, 2013*

This series is absolutely amazing! The characters are well-thought and getting just...a...little more about them in each episode is like learning about all your relatives. They laugh & backstab & pull each other up when they fall. The intrigue that hovers in the background is only a little bit easier to handle when you know you don't have to wait a week to find out what happens next.BUT -- When are we going to get the rest of this series? From all accounts, no one even knows who owns the right to TRADERS anymore. So here's a shout to Canada in general:IT'LL SELL! GIVE IT UP! WE WANT MORE!!!
