If I measured to the center of a perfectly square block from all four corners, I would come up with four different centers. All would be close, but all would be off center. Each slide is made of three layers of aluminum. The center piece is actually two pieces. If they miscut just one of the center pieces, the rule would not fit the slide or there would be a huge amount of wobble.So either they mismeasured both center pieces, or they cut one and used that as the guide to cut the second. So I have one slide with a fairly acceptable hole for the rule, but that hole is definitely off by a lot.Generally, this wouldn't matter. Such a deviation would only be noticeable on very small objects or on two objects that come together.So I feel it will work, but it's definitely not a "precision" tool, nor something that I can use on fine furniture if exact measurements are required.Tool is solid, but needs a few burrs buffed off of the miscut slide. Drill bit is sharp, well made and fits exactly in the drill bit hole. Measurements are easy to read.Slides work fairly well and the set screws work well to keep them in place. The one slide is perfect and without any wobble. The one that was miscut by a 1/16 has a very slight wobble, but certainly tight enough for fine furniture -- as far as the wobble goes.For the $25 bucks I paid, I wouldn't have bought it off the shelf. But since I ordered it online, and since it will work in most circumstances, I'll keep it. Had I found it in the store for $15, I would have looked through all of them to find one with closer tolerances, but I might have bought this one if it was the best -- for $15.This does make me leery of the company itself though. This is a heck of a sloppy instrument for something labeled "precision." My speed square isn't off by this much. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth the price and saved me a lot of time! *by M***E on Reviewed in the United States on September 8, 2014* I decided to try this unique looking tool figuring that if I didn't end up liking it that I could give it for a present. After using it I know I won't give it away but I will buy another for a gift. I made a pair of custom TV stands and this tool saved me time and frustration. Before I would have to measure from both sides of each corner with a square and then drill. With this tool I was able to just set the tool on the wood edge and drill. The tool has the distance marked on it and I only had to set it up once instead of measuring 16 times if I didn't have the tool.
