Review: The Best GRE Math Review I've Found! - This is by far the best actual math review I've been able to find which focuses on GRE prep. There are lots of practice problems, and each topic is separated into a manageable section. There are four review chapters (Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, and Data Interpretation), each made up of an average of six sections. In each section, you have a discussion of different key concepts and problem types followed by questions you can practice which are grouped by level of difficulty (Basic - Intermediate - Advanced). After that, there is an answer key with answer explanations. This is the second half of the book. The first half has questions divided by an entirely different category than the review chapters, which I find a little annoying, but it fits with their suggested strategies for tackling each problem type. I got this book for the math review. I did fine in algebra classes, but that was a long time ago. I scored in the 34th percentile my first time taking the math portion of the GRE (the pre-revised GRE), and this time around I thought I'd better study. Sure enough, with some refresher, I'm getting my score up on practice tests, and I'm aiming, realistically, for 80th percentile or higher. None of the GRE math is terribly difficult, it's just a matter of remembering how to do it, and this book can definitely help. If you can take a methodical approach, taking the review one section at a time, you may be surprised what you can relearn (and learn for the first time), too! That said, this book is no substitute for remembering some of what you learned in school. Some of the answer explanations skip over key steps on the apparent assumption that you know how that was done. I had to zip forward to some other sections just to try to understand how on earth those linear equation questions worked, and even strategic scanning of later sections won't answer all of your questions, if you don't remember at least enough that the review jogs some of the basics in your memory. I have someone helping me a bit, which has been invaluable. When I just can't understand what the book did, he can walk me through it. Now, I wouldn't not recommend this book because of these flaws. This is still by far the most effective review book I've found. Like I said, I'm getting my score up big time. Just don't get overwhelmed if you come across a problem that has an incomplete explanation. Be prepared to phone a friend, try to find the answer on the internet, look forward to other sections, or, when all else fails, decide that particular problem doesn't matter that much. After all, unless you're going into a field that wants you in the 98th percentile, you can afford to not understand a few things. There are also a few typos, as some other reviewers have noted. There aren't many, though, and while this scared me at first, I haven't found them to be problematic. The two I've come across are pretty obvious once you get into the question (one was in a word problem, and the other was an incorrect answer on an answer page). As other reviewers have noted, this is no substitute for using the official ETS GRE books. These questions are sometimes less complicated, and it's important to not get overwhelmed once you see the ETS questions. So, use this book because the ETS book has very little review details. And then once you've done your review and learned some strategies with this book, go back to the ETS books. So, study, my friends. We can do it!
Review: very comprehensive and lots of practice - I have been working on this book for a month. didn't have too much time, so only went thru half of it. it has a lot of stuffs for you to practice. but for me it's just too easy.. maybe math in GRE is easy?? will start working on the verbal soon and review on that.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great for improving Math skills
*by M***. on August 16, 2015*

I just started working in this workbook. I need incredible assistance in this subject area to get ready for this test. I plan to do a lot of.prep work on my own and this book is step one for me. There is an explanation as to how to use the book. Chapter one is for Getting started. This is Part one. It introduces you to GRE math. It includes understanding the GRE quantitative reasoning secrions, MS mechanics, question types, quantitative comparison, problem solving and data interpretation. Part two, Quantitative Reasoning, includes: Chapter 2-Quantitative Comparison, Chapter 3- Problem Solving, Chapter 4- Data interpretation and Chapter 5- Quantitative Reasoning Practice. Each chapter in Part 2 includes questions, a practice set, a practice set answer key & answers and explantions. Only Chapter 5 contains separate practice sets with answer keys and explanations. Part 3, Math Content Review, includes: Chapter 6- Arithmetic, Chapter 7- Algebra, Chapter 8- Geometry and Chapter 9- Data Interpretation. In this part each chapter has multiple opportunities for exercises throughout the chapter with answer keys following. Part 4, GRE Resources is an appendix of Math reference. This appendix is approximately 20 pages of math "how to". A few examples include: how use PEMDAS, how to convert frame ruins to decimals, how to find the area of a trapezoid. For someone looking to relearn a lot of the math you forgot from highschook, thus is definitelythe book to support your learning and preparation.
