I can only tell you that the one I received is real. The mesh grill on the AUTHENTIC SHURE mic almost looks "spider web" like. The links are intertwined - the FAKE SHURE has a regular metal screen. The AUTHENTIC SHURE mic has a DEEP BLUE colored ring (not DARK BLUE!) around the grill. The FAKE one has like a "SKY BLUE" Also, at the BOTTOM of the mic, where the XLR pins are, the REAL SHURE mic will have the pins numbered "1, 2 and 3" and ALSO have the SHURE LOGO embossed on the base by the pins. The FAKE MICS will NOT. Hope this info HELPS. **Q: Does this mic need phantom power of 48V?** A: Hello, This microphone does not require phantom power, as it is dynamic.Phantom power is required for condenser microphones, such as Shure Beta 87A. **Q: Can anyone give a realistic assessment of how much better it is at resisting feedback than other mics? If not, any recommendations for one that does?** A: I have the SM58 and the BETA 58A and I like the sound of the BETA much better and I think it is louder in similar set ups.
