Borla 17183 Header

Installed on 1999 Subaru Forester (2.5L SOHC.) With this paired to the stock muffler, you get a deeper sound, but still not loud at all. Quite quiet in fact. Paired with a Borla cat-back, this thing roars and sounds great. This will give you the boxer rumble you're looking for if it's paired with the appropriate exhaust system.One downside, after installing this, I can't attach my skidplate. The alternative piping interferes. Of course, that's not this product's fault as the skidplate is aftermarket and there's no way Borla could've designed this to be compatible. The stock plastic dust shield I'd imagine works fine with this.2017 Update!My header cracked. I don't know if it was from normal wear and tear (heating and cooling) or if some putz of a mechanic tried lifting my car with these. All I do know is that the crack wasn't there before I took the car into the shop, and it was very noticeable aftward (rasping exhaust sound and noticeably less low end power.)Anyway! I contacted Borla and sent them a photo of the crack. They immediately sent me a replacement and just asked that I return the damaged header. They even offered to pay for shipping both ways. After a couple days of not hearing from Borla (I was waiting to receive a shipping label for the return, I already had the new header installed and the old one boxed up) they told me to just scrap the old header and send them a photo of it "being scrapped."Borla gets a gold star. If I could give this a 6 star review, I would. Few companies offer warranties like this, fewer honor them, and even fewer will perform an advanced replacement. (advanced replacement meaning they send the new item before receiving the defective one so the customer has minimal downtime)

Overall I am just indifferent about this product. The welding on here seemed like it was rushed. The installation was a bit difficult and there was no hardware included, which other brands do provide. I had reasonable doubt that this was resold as a knock off; however, after speaking with Borla, they concluded that it was indeed their product. I had purchased this due to Borlas reputation, but it seems to have fallen a bit short of my expectations with the headers at least.

Received what looks to be a lightly used header. Doesn't look as clean as what borla would produce. Has exhaust remnants and rust internally, you can see where the piping was heated through exhaust. My thoughts are someone bought a new one to replace their cheap Ebay headers and swapped it out for this one and returned it. The longer section of piping is supposed to run parallel with the other but these are seperate and run at an angle. There is rust in the joint where those two pieces most likely had stress and seperated. There are shipping labels on the box dated back to 2015. I'd love to leave a review on how this product was easy to install and brought out that subi rumble. But I'm not even going to waste my time installing this hunk of metal that was left on my doorstep. The inner pipe is not even welded to the flange and is cut unevenly

Fit great sounds amazing color nice.

Quality and welds are very high, much better metal and craftsmanship than the eBay knockoff type. Spend you money on these once and be happy.

Installed this on my 99 impreza 2.5rs and the Borla sound was awesome. It really match the subie rumble sound.
