The perfect duo to any desk setup
After months of putting off buying speakers and many hours searching the web, reading reviews on a range of desktop speakers i finally decided on the Audioengine A2+ speakers. I cant say you'd be disappointed with the choice, at least i wasn't in the slightest! First off the unboxing was impressive, with the speakers coming secured well in protective packaging and wrapped in microfibre cloth soft to the touch, with another 2 microfibre bags storing the connecting wires, the first impressions oozed a premium feel with these great microfibre carrying bags. The little speakers pack great audio, with a well rounded and crisp range of sound and considering the size of these little guys the base isn't bad at all! if you're a hardcore basehead you may need an external sub but for the regular user for the home office these are perfect in this size and produce amazing sound these put out considering their small form factor. Any audiophile will appreciate this great desk addition and make sitting at your desk all that more inviting and leaving you not want to get out your seat! The design of these blend in and look and feel very study, solid and most important quality. The problem i found personally when looking for desktop speakers is the majority don't compliment the desk and look out of place, tend to not look at nice and feel a bit cheap. This is certainly not the case with the A2s, they are a good weight in the hand, and the finish of the speakers is high end, from the smooth outer shell encasing the entire body to the drivers and back panels, you can tell these are premium quality and they sound as good as they look if not better! I wouldn't expect these to produce any rattle from weight of them allowing for vibration dampening through the padded underside on the bottoms. The volume control to the rear left isn't so much an issue at all, i adjust it to a certain level on the back and then control the volume though the device i'm using over bluetooth so turning the volume up or down can be done without issue. The setup was super simple to install and connect up to my devices, 5 minute job connecting the power and cable between the speakers and then pairing up to them with a bluetooth device. While they are some of the most pricey speakers when compared to its competitors in this range i believe them to be worth it. The build, sound, easy of use and looks of them top all my expectations and an investment well made with these 10/10 speakers!

Used with Laptop on desk, compact size, deep rich sound, awesome packaging!!
Got these in black for my home office desk. Using them primarily for music and some video. Connections: They are connected to my Macbook Pro, and I've placed them about 1.7M apart. The left speaker unit connects to the power cable. The 2 units are connected together with the speaker cable provided (speaker cable is 2 metres long). I have connected to my Macbook via the provided 1.5M USB cable, but can be connected via Bluetooth too. There are external outputs that could optionally connect to a subwoofer. Operation: They are turned on/off via the volume knob (on back of unit). I can turn the volume up/down via my keyboard controls (and/or can use the volume knob on the speaker). Sound: Very precise and rich sound. Bass is very good for units of this size. Very pleasing to listen to, and a noticeable step up in quality from other speakers of this size. I also purchased the silicone mounts to sit them on, which angles the speakers upwards for a more direct sound. Quality: By far, some of the best packaging I've experienced with a product! The speakers and their accessories/cabling were pampered in quality textile drawstring bags, all contents were packaged with alot of care and quality. The speakers themselves feel (and weigh) high quality, and have a noticeably high quality finish to them (mine are satin black). Pros: - Rich and precise sound quality - Aesthetically good looking on a desk - Can be easily connected via USB or Bluetooth - Volume easily controllable via device input (e.g. keyboard) and/or by the volume knob on the left speaker - Excellent build quality, and exceptionally well packaged Cons: - Expensive compared to other 2.0 speakers available Overall, I am very happy with these bookshelf speakers. They are pricey, but I can see, feel, and hear the difference. I would highly recommend for anyone looking for a concise pair of speakers, that is willing to pay extra for high quality.

I like them.
I do really like these. I'm not sure they are much of an upgrade on what I had previously in terms of quality but I also wanted something with a nice looking design so I'm happy. I have purchased these to replace my Bose companion 20 speaker which I used for ages and really liked. In terns of audio quality I would put them on par. However the Audioengine has much better adjustable options via the knobs on the back so I think if you have a use which requires a lot of adjustments then these would be ideal. To be clear the sound quality is amazing. I'm using them connected directly to a MacBook via the AUX port for video editing and I'm super impressed with the audio. They are pretty flawless too via BT albeit with a very slight lag (which is the only reason I use the cabled option for editing). The looks is excellent they feel luxury and present beautifully.

Excellent and impressive for their size
The A2+ are a set of very very good desktop speakers, but due to their size, bass isn't their forte. To really bring them to life, I recommend sticking the audioengine S6 subwoofer under your desk. That whole set is truly impressive!

Brilliant desktop speaker
I have waited while speakers have settled in, before posting this review. Absolutely over the moon with my purchase. Solid, balanced sound, even at max volume. Easy to set-up, multiple connection options. Great value and I even managed to get at a reduced price.

Absolutely stunning
I have an emotional relationship with these speakers. I know it sounds stupid but they are that good. With almost everything I play I hear details in the music that I'd never heard before. my problem now is that a favourite track comes on and I get distracted from working and get absorbed into the sound. The only thing you possibly could say against them is that they don't have the lower end bass that larger speakers have (compare with the A5s at 2.5x price), but they are only 11cm wide and 13cm tall. When I first tried them out in my kitchen I thought, nice, detailed but hollow. Turns out that's just not the situation they're designed for. They are desk speakers, not room filling speakers. Once set up either side of my desk within an arms length me the base is right there. You could add a sub if you really need that very lower end while working but for most people it's just not necessary. Bluetooth paring works with several devices and switches over seamlessly, although my laptop kept forgetting them so I used the usb cable from my docking station - just works. If left on for a while with nothing playing then they will auto power off so you have to reach round to the volume control and turn them off and on again to get them to wake up, no big deal. Also I had to get a longer piece of speaker wire to go between them because the supplied piece wouldn't reach round my desk, screens and shelves.

Great Speakers
Purchased these to connected to record player and to Bluetooth from a phone. Setup was simple, the sound is fantastic and the compact form factor is perfect. Would definitely recommend. I originally bought a pair of edifer mr5 which I returned as they were too big.

Best speakers I've ever heard on my PC
So after a meandering path to these Audioengine speakers I tried many. Edifier and even traditional hifi bookshelves. These are by far the best sounding pc speakers I've heard since... I owned actual hifi equipment during the 90s. I did very little in my equaliser software to correct these beauties. The treble is very crisp so I maybe dropped that down a tiny bit. The bass is often sited as being lacking in these speakers, I dont hear this at all. I guess a lot of that is down to where and how you position them. Mine are about 20cms from a rear wall. Overall I cant see how anyone would be disappointed with buying the Audioengine. Rich, vibrant and very dynamic sounding. Soundstage is fantastic with voice being placed perfectly and always sounding natural. I'll end this with some tips for you to get the most out of these speakers. Make sure the tweeter is at roughly the height of your ears. Tilt both speakers inwards until you can hear the vocals snap into the middle space between. So these are a solid 10/10 for me.

Beautiful and great speakers
Let me begin with the aesthetic appeal. Despite their compact size, the speakers are beautifully finished and come in a variety of colors that please the preferences of even the most discerning customers. Every detail, from the smallest components to the overall design, has been meticulously considered to create a solid and stunning professional look. Of course, there are many other speakers available with appealing styles and colors, but many of them are either significantly more expensive or lack the exceptional sound quality of the A2+ speakers. And speaking of which, the quality of sound is where these little wonders truly shine. I tested the speakers with a diverse range of music genres, including classic, jazz, salsa, rock, and pop, and I was pleasantly surprised by their performance. I wasn’t expecting such a high level of detail, especially in the mid and high frequency sounds, which are remarkably good. While the bass may not be particularly powerful for their size, it’s not bad in any way. Regarding connectivity, the speakers offer various options to connect to your music sources without compromising their clean and elegant appearance. All the available ports are conveniently located on the back of the speakers. An USB-C port is provided; I reached out to user support to get more information about the requirements for this specific port. According to user support, the minimum practical port speed is any USB port that supports USB 2.0 Full Speed. This includes USB A 2.0 ports, USB A 3.x ports operating in backward compatible mode, USB C ports that support USB 2.0 signaling, and Thunderbolt docks that expose USB 2.0 lanes internally. Even the slowest USB ports on modern docks exceed this requirement. Here, I discovered an issue with my specific setup. The only available “free” USB ports left on my "busy" Ivanky FusionDock Max 2 dock are USB A (2.0 and higher); however, attempting to connect the speakers to any of these ports using either a USB C to USB A cable or an adaptor from USB C to USB A results in no connection. Only when using a USB C port was I able to connect the A2+ to my Mac Mini M4 Pro. The Bluetooth connection works perfectly fine. When I first turn on the speakers, they enter in “pair mode,” which simplifies the process. I didn’t notice any difference in the sound quality when using USB C or Bluetooth. I haven’t tested the RCA connection, but I would have preferred an optical port to be included instead. I find that port more useful for this type of speaker (more computer-oriented).
