In the return instructions, it states that you must contact Owl POS Printers to explain the issue. I instructed that this has 'never happened before, it must be a setting or need an update'. No instructions came with the device so I had to look the manual up on the web. No instruction on how to update. It is now past my day of return. Convenient, I know. Now I am stuck with a broken printer. I should have just forfeit the 20% restocking fee. I was told by an employee at Star that you can not operate this printer while plugged into AC. You can only use AC to charge the battery and then unplug it.
