Mice don't like peppermint oil and you might also try ultrasonic repellers if you don't have small pets. Drives them crazy.

Does this soap smell manly or feminine?

The rose sent is more on the feminine side but the others are unisex. Peppermint or sage smells good on anyone!

I'm going to use this as shampoo. i'm now seeing recommendations to use an acidic rinse after (e.g. dr. bronners or apple cider). is that necessary?

I too have fine, oily hair, brown. Love this as shampoo, cleans great and rinses fully away. One bar for body, hair and shaving.

can you use this soap as a shaving cream?

Yes because of my eczema I actually do use this as a shaving cream. I also use it as a shampoo, but my hair is buzzed short.
