Giant killer!
Nice, very nice indeed. I upgraded from a Onkyo TX-8255 Receiver to the Onkyo A-9010. The TX-8255 was great, and for what it cost, is a great receiver that I enjoyed for a few years. The A-9010 is a definite step up for me in Hi-Fi sound. It sounds tighter, and is more lively than the TX-8255, it'll get your foot tapping for sure, plus it still has a smooth sound. It might not be high end hi-fi, but it's damn sure knocking hard on the door. Love It! Update 1-14-2017: After 2-3 weeks with the Onkyo A-9010 I am still enjoying it, but with reservations. It does have a somewhat bright sound when volume is turned up to 1200 and beyond. Don't get me wrong, it is a fine integrated amp, with a lot of excitement and tight bass. I won't return it, because there is absolutely nothing wrong with it, and I don't want to abuse the return policy, but I'll probably go for a warmer sounding int amp in the future, maybe even a tube type. The A-9010 is great at what it does, remote works great, and don't let the 44wpc rating fool you, it'll crank loud enough to get the cops at your house in a second. In conclusion, great int amp, but if you want something warm sounding I'd look elsewhere. My last Onkyo TX-8255 Receiver was warm sounding, but it does not have the dynamic impact of this A-9010, so it depends on what you like in your sound. I'd still say it's a great buy, and stick with the 5 star rating. Update 2-1-2017: That'll do Pig, that'll do. This is a hell of an amp. After a lot of hours of listening, this amp has settled in, and it is amazing. I'll never sell it, I may try others out of curiosity, but this amp is special. Highly recommend this for anybody that appreciates fine amplification. Best $300 I ever spent. Update 2-18-2017: Still loving the Onkyo A-9010. Been thinking about trying a different int-amp, like Rega Brio 2017, Cambridge Audio CXA60, or Marantz PM7005, but to be honest this thing sounds so wonderful, and I'm really enjoying it so much it seems silly for me to do that. It's the best sounding amp I've had so far. Not the most powerfull, but I like the sound of it better than anything I've had before, which includes, an old McIntosh MC2100, a Jolida JD-1501A, NAD, Adcom, Harmon Kardon, and more. I'm baffled how Onkyo made this to sound so great, but only cost $300. I could tell people that didn't know better I paid $1500, and if they didn't see it, and could only heart it, they'd believe it. Update 4-7-2017: I bought and tried a Marantz PM-7005, and after listening to it for over 2 weeks, I returned it for refund. I like the sound of the Onkyo A-9010 better, but don't get me wrong, the Marantz was a fine int/amp, and built like a tank. I just enjoy the more livelier presentation of the Onkyo. If I had to say what the Onkyo excels at, it would be horns and drums, and the Marantz excels at human voice, which it does beautifully. Next I may try the Cambridge Audio CXA60, I hear it is very lively.

Great amp for the price
I "upgraded" my home theater setup from a 10-year old 5.1 channel AV receiver and speakers to a 2.0 channel stereo setup with the A-9010 at the center. Rather than 5-6 mediocre quality speakers I purchased two nice floor standing speakers. My setup is probably not for everyone, but I felt I could get better sound out of a nice two-channel setup vs. multi-channel. The sound is much better, I'm hearing things in music, tv, and movies that I've never heard before. I wouldn't call myself an audiophile, but I noticed a substantial improvement in sound quality with my stereo setup s my old 5.1 setup. Part of this improvement is due to the two nicer speakers, but I have no doubt this amp plays a part in that as well. I was initially cautious about the power rating of this amp vs my old 100 watt/channel receiver, but I needn't have worried. The sound is almost deafening at just over halfway on the volume dial. I have one minor complaint. Since I'm using this in a home theater setup, for which it wasn't really intended, I need to use a universal remote to control everything. This amp does not support direct input selection, meaning you have to cycle through the inputs to select the one you want. My universal remote generally does a good job keeping track of which input is currently selected, and toggling to the appropriate new input; however, it does sometimes get out of sync (power outage, ir command not received, etc.) This is only a minor complaint, since it works 95% of the time, and the fix just requires manually selecting the correct input on the amp. However, it would be nice, on future versions, to have direct input selection. Overall, I'm extremely happy. This amp is clearly a steal at it's current price point. My setup includes this amp (A-9010) and a pair of Q Acoustics 3050 floor standing speakers.

Excellent sound for the price
Overall, I find the Onkyo A-9010 to be a very enjoyable listen. Like some other reviewers have mentioned, don't let the 44 watts per channel fool you. This baby has plenty of power to drive most speakers, even at loud volumes. I have my A-9010 paired with Paradigm 5se MKII speakers, and the music is full and detailed. I primarily listen to CD's (yes, I know they are not hipster-friendly, but I do feel they sound better than vinyl), and they sound richer and fuller than they have ever sounded. I play them trough the Onkyo C-7030 CD player, another Onkyo purchase I am very pleased with. I do not have a turntable hooked up to it, so I can't judge the phono stage, although reviews by others have been mixed. The only issue I have is with the very low-end bass response of the A-9010. Some types of music with really heavy bass, like some metal and EDM, for example, don't seem to have as much "oomph" as with my other, older Onkyo amp, which is the TX-SR507, an AV amp with 70 watts per channel (5.1). This is most noticeable at louder volumes. Overall, though, sound quality out of the A-9010 is much better that the TX-SR507. The A-9010 excels in mid range response, so in order to get more of a bass-heavy sound out of the A-9010, I turn the treble back to about -3, and bass up to between +5 and +10. At those levels the bass sounds warm enough, and still does have enough "oomph" to keep me happy. If you are looking to blast some of the above mentioned music in a large listening room or outside, you will want to get something with a bit more wattage. But if you really enjoy actually "listening" to you music, in stereo, and in a small to moderately sized room, the A-9010 is ideal. Obviously, there are other, more expensive, options out there, but you won't do any better at the A-9010's price. Highly recommended. ** Update 7/13/17 ** After having this unit for a good 6 months, I have come to really appreciate how it sounds overall. The a-9010 is in my basement "man cave," and is primarily used for listening to music, although I do run my TV and Blu-ray player through it as well. Now when I hear music on my old Onkyo AV receiver in the living room, I can really notice how much better the a-9010 sounds. The a-9010 is much clearer and livelier. While the bass does not have as much "oomph" as the old Onkyo, as I mentioned in my original review, it still has enough to keep me satisfied. I now keep the bass cranked at +10 and the treble at -3, and I was able to improve the bass a bit by plugging the unit directly into the wall instead of into a surge protector. The difference is not drastic, but the bass drum is noticeably punchier than before. Since I don't live in a stormy area I am not too worried about power surges. I also think I my ears have adjusted to "audiophile" sound, as I was not used to hearing more "pure" sound from my amp in the past. You can really turn up the volume and it still sounds excellent, sounds like it has more power than it lists. I have had no volume fluctuation issues with my unit like some others have reported, so I am assuming that Onkyo has taken care of that problem. I still highly recommend this amp for those who are into "deep listening."

Onkyo works for me
After many months of researching I came down to three: Marantz PM6005 Yamaha AS301 and the Onkyo A9010. I reviewed higher end amps and tube amps but in the end, I didn't want to get into electronics, I just wanted to come home and turn on an amp and enjoy the music. My listening area is pretty small...part of a converted attic...so I didn't need a lot of power and all three fit the bill. Both the Marantz and the Onkyo had independent headphone amps which was key because I listen to headphones a lot. I heard some negative things about the Yamaha with regards to headphones...don't know if it's true or not since I couldn't listen to any of them live. Both the Marantz and the Onkyo got rave reviews from WhatHiFi but I didn't find a lot of reviews for the Yamaha. I didn't doubt the quality of the Yamaha having had products from them before and I know they make a great product but in the end, it came down to what I could find about all three on the internet. With it narrowed down to two it came down to price and the Onkyo being about $200 cheaper with no real discernible difference in quality. Regardless of which one I got, people loved them. I've had the Onkyo now for 4 months. It delivers clean, beautiful sound. It has few bells and whistles and is all about simplicity. I've only hit the on/off and volume control so far so I don't fiddle with it much. I listen to it thru a pair of AKG 702s and it's beautiful. There have been no quality issues and it's never run hot for me...even after 15 hours of continuous use. Sound is such a subjective issue and differs widely between listeners but for me, the Onkyo works well.

Terrible volume fluctuation and faulty volume knob makes unit unusable
Edit 1/31/2017: Finally got the unit back from the Onkyo authorized repair shop. All seems to be fix and working properly. Of course the shop misplaced the remote and seeing as it is 40 miles from my home it makes more sense to just order another remote rather than waste my time. The unit itself sounds quite nice (now that it is actually working). I love the digital inputs along with the phono input. Vinyl sounds warm and the DAC seems to do a great job with digital music. I have noticed a bit of a hum in my speakers when I turn the volume up a bit past halfway. The hum disappears when you turn down the bass but then the music is lacking that oomf. I'm driving two Polk Audio Monitor 60 floor stand speakers. I've heard these speakers can be lacking in bass so it may just be the speaker pairing. All and all this is a nice unit if you can get one with good QC. Personally I would spend an extra few hundred and go with something like Marantz. Original Review: This amplifier is completely unusable! The volume is uncontrollable changing volume without warning. The volume is so erratic that it will go from inaudible to what sounds like full volume. Also, the volume cannot be turned all the way down or muted. Physically moving and wiggling the volume knob would make the audio cut in and out depending on which way you moved it. Obviously there is a bad connection or faulty part. Try getting your 2 year old to bed when the vinyl you are listening too all of a sudden hits max volume without warning. I am now worried about damage to my speakers and / or my other entertainment center components as well. After calling Onkyo customer support they could not figure out the problem with the usual fixes. Of course these "fixes" were to turn if off and back on, unplug the unit for 30 seconds, and a factory reset by holding down the Direct and Power buttons simultaneously. These of course did not work. Onkyo support sent me to their closest licensed repair shop - 40 miles away - and it has been there since Nov 22nd. It is now Jan 10 and I still don't have my amp. Repair techs cannot get the part they need to repair it. Onkyo has it on indefinite backorder. Part #CVV9Y17B503Z I wish I had avoided this unit all together and spent a bit more for a more reliable product.

Sounds good to me!
Alright so I don't know very much about audio. I'm a novice and I don't know audio words, so don't yell at me! I bought this as an anniversary gift for my boyfriend because he's really into this stuff. Honestly, I get jealous because listening to music might be the only thing he loves more than me. ANYway... We have a really enjoyable bonding activity. We like to spend time in our living room together and I'll read, write or paint and he listens to music. We've done it for years and I still really enjoy it. (We're mostly into rock, but both of us can appreciate tons of music) Well within the last 6 months or so, he hasn't played his stereo. Which was super weird. He would just clean the house while I painted. (which wasn't entirely bad...just saying). I asked him what would help him like music again and he told me that he was saving up for a new amplifier. He has like 50 of them (ok maybe only 3) but whatever. So i used my girlfriend mind trick powers on him and he told me he was really interested in this one. Knowing our anniversary was coming up, he made me promise I wouldn't spend more than $10 on him. Naturally I said ok and bought this while he was on a business trip anyway. oops. Well I wish I could describe the look on his face when I gave it to him. He smiled ear to ear like an 8 year old on christmas. He's been playing it non-stop. He even gets up and starts dancing like a dork. It sounds good to me, but I'll tell you what he said to me. He said, "it isn't as detailed sounding as my old amplifier. But what it lacks in detail, it makes up for in pure energy. It makes music fun to listen to again". Even as I write this, he's over in his chair tapping his toes to his music with a big grin on his face. I'm really satisfied with this purchase. Not only was it the best surprise ever and made him happy, it gave us back our bonding activity. Even if I have to help with cleaning the house again, it's totally worth it.

Great. While it worked. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE.
The amp was great. While it worked. Like other reviews here highlighted already, after a few months the volume started behaving erratically. The amplifier is currently sitting in a repair shop and it has been 8 weeks (my records are currently just a very heavy furniture piece...). Onkyo seems incapable to deliver the correct components for repair and it's impossible to get a hold of them through the phone or via email. Am I supposed to just buy another amplifier?

Awesome sound, until it disappears ..... updated feb 17 2018...
Onkyo A-9010 Integrated Stereo Amplifier Great sound paired up with superb Elac B6 speakers. ? feb 4 why from five down to aggressive TWO STARS: ? may 6 down to three from repaired units' four. A few more input options would be nice - an HDMI, one more optical perhaps, however the real achilles heal of this otherwise overachieving budget amp appears to be assembly quality, apparent from these reviews. I'm hoping my future updates will reveal a smooth resolution and reinstating the score. Bought Dec 2016, issue showed up Jan 2018, still under 2 year warranty: Audio level drops about 50%. Happens intermittently, for long periods. It seems like this does not happen immediately when turned on, but after "warming up" .... not 100% on this though( ok.... just turned on, and after ten minutes, the volume has dropped again, significantly) Normally all sources come in to the TV via HDMI, and go out to the amp via TOSLINK into optical D2. The problem occurs with ALL sources [smart tv, Apple TV, dvr, bluray]. I compared the coaxial digital input direct from the DVR when it happens, same problem, also the same with Line 1 input direct from the DVR, at the same time. ie not just digital input. Not DVR, since it happens with other sources coming in on the toslink. I feel like I've eliminated the cause being a source or input connection (eg bad toslink, or just the dac) Turning volume past halfway does raise output some, but not to the previous levels at the 30-40% volume knob position. This was tested, but not sustained, for fear of damaging my elac B6 speakers. It seems like this amp is very popular on amazon, but there are a growing number of reviews with similar issues reported, along with not so happy resolutions. Most appear to be suffering from bad soldering around the volume knob, I'm not sure that is the direct cause here, but I will be updating amazon reviews with my experience. This was such a highly recommended amp in various industry publications, it would be a shame to see it fall from grace. I fear the A-9050 might suffer the same issues if assembled at the same plant in Vietnam, perhaps along with similar amps in the Onkyo family. (update: looks like it is "made in Malaysia" ... vs Vietnam ... but a manufacturer reply on one of their amps leaves open that parts are made in malaysia but assembled "at other factories". so who knows.) ..... five minutes and the volume just jumped back to normal, for a minute, then dropped again. UPDATE feb 17 2018: repaired, and returned yesterday from Bigston Corpn, Wood Dale IL, the nearest authorized Onkyo repair shop to TN. No fuss, decent communication when I gently nudged them. Shipped out at my expense, back on theirs. Keep your original box, just in case. "volume board replaced". All appears to be functioning properly so far, upgraded to four stars for prompt warranty repair handling. No news after this will be good news ... UPDATE may 6 2018 repaired unit has been displaying the problem the last few weeks, but now I'm aware, sensitive to the gradually developing issue .... no more second guessing myself, as with the original unit. Looking to replace it .... shame - I really like the sound. This kind of appliance should last ten, twenty plus years, not repaired every six months. I don't know how Amazon are going to handle this, if they will at all. feb 15 2019 gave up with onkyo repairing this ... now on the bench at local repair shop to investigate issue, and i'm looking at alternative units.

Gran sonido
Reproduce muchos detalles con calidad excelente. Tengo conectadas unas "difíciles" bocinas Infinity Kappa 8, y su potencia es suficiente para alimentarlas.
