Be careful! This thing will slice everything that touches it. Very nice and consistent slices. Easy to use thickness setting. Rinses of easily and has no issues in the dishwasher. Con: My mom borrowed it and won’t give it back 😥

This is an America's Test Kitchen (ATK) recommended product. I didn't realize I was getting a ceramic blade, but it seems very sharp. A little research indicated that ceramic stays sharper than steel, if you take care of it. I used this to create thin potato slices for making kettle chips. Thickness setting 1 is very thin, like Lays potato chips (in the yellow bag) thickness. I ended up using setting 2, which is about 1/16 in thick to make the kettle chips. It comes with a food holder, but it didn't seem very useful. I decided to order a pair of level 5 cut-proof, slice-proof gloves to protect my fingers. There is a square adjustment bar on back of the slicer that provides four slice thicknesses. I wish it had a dial/knob on the side to rotate the bar easier. 0.55 mm (0.022 in) 1.3 mm (0.051 in, ~1/16") 2.0 mm (0.079 in) 3.0 mm (0.118 in, ~1/8") The chips sliced very well and consistent. You do have to press down a bit because the adjuster bar on the back acts as a back-stop for the thickness more than it does actually setting the thickness. I found that I needed to rotate the potato 90 degrees each slice to keep it from getting thinner on the leading edge.

It worked very well for one year. I was very happy with how easy it was to prepare my salads with a consistent thickness. One year later, the onions are starting to get stuck when sliding them over the blade. It does but longer work with a single, continuous movement. This has lead to a couple cuts where the vegetable gets stuck and my hand keeps moving and goes over the blade. I think I have to replace it now. If you are happy buying this for only one year, then go for it; don't expect it to be functional for longer than that.

Glad I read the reviews first. Just looking at the pic, I thought it was a large mandolin, but it's actually just the right size for most slicing jobs. Has a great, solid feel to it. The thickness selector's numbers are a bit hard to understand at first, so I just sliced the same potato after selecting the different settings, so I'd know which one was for thick and which one for thin. Dishwasher safe and stows away easily.

The good: it has a ceramic blade that is dangerously sharp; it is simple to use; it has a notch for a bowl; it is fairly simple to change cutting width. The awkward: it is a plastic toy, with a sharp blade. The width adjustment is a rectangular bar. The actual width of cuts is probably between 1mm and 2mm, not 1 and 4. The accuracy of the slices depends on the contact of the plastic plane with the width adjustment, and you eventually realize that you have to press the plane/table down. The plastic-teethed guide for your veggie and other thing does not grip small pieces well, and is merely guided by the ridges on the mandoline, with no positive lock. For instance, a garlic clove will slice beautifully until just after half its volume, and the remaining piece is either a discard or a manual effort to slice. The guide should be integral to the mandoline, but it is an afterthought. The ceramic blade is sharp, and you are always tempted to hand-slice even small pieces. My wife drew blood on using it; I merely shaved my cuticles. Mediocre design, adequate until the blade gives out.

Love it , highly recommend it. Slice my apples on setting 4 and onions on 1. Fruits taste better when sliced thin. So easy to use and wash.

This slices vegetables perfectly. Vegetables for salads sliced as thin as you like with the 4 thickness options.

This mandoline is simple to use, easy to hold, sharp as you need, lightweight, easy to store, and easy to clean. There are at least 2 other versions of it. Stay away from the cheaper version that does not let you adjust the thickness of your slices. But buy the one that does not include the rubber grip on the handle, since the grip is floppy and it slips around a bit. If you are new to mandolines, and maybe if you are not, get the gloves that protect your fingers. Unless your recipes call for human blood.

This mandoline works very well - and gives you the right angle for use (some don't). Accessed a range of reviews before purchasing this one, and avoided a number of others which are much more expensive but don't perform as well.

Great slicer very sharp for carrots, cucumbers, whatever you like. Does a fantastic job.

The plastic body is weak.

Adjustable cutter, stays sharp. Plastic frame won't last forever. I don't find the safety pusher useful.
