Not so with this bladder. Everything about it is well thought out and sturdy. I think the detachable hose with the insulated sleeve is great, the bite valve is top notch, and the reservoir is made of very durable material with an easy loading top opening. I made the mistake of leaving it in my vehicle for a couple days between hikes and it did leave a weird taste from heating up during 85+ degree days, so make sure to replace your water instead of topping it off in that instance. Otherwise, no complaints.
