Review: Only Product that Cleared our Infestation - We had a sudden flea explosion where I am at due to an unnaturally warm winter. We tried everything from the most expensive, name brand topicals, oral medications, bathes, sprays and foams and powders for the floors and furniture and everything in between with no luck -- if anything, it seemed to keep getting worse. My cats had blisters and contact dermatitis from them; it was absolutely horrible and I was terrified they were going to get sick from how many we were finding. We were getting bit, leaving welts on our skin from small, black fleas. I have four cats. Advantage is expensive. Every other big name brand with promises to eliminate them are. I couldn't keep paying almost a hundred dollars for one month's worth of treatments that - did not work-. I decided to give this a try after seeing the reviews, and come on, three treatments per cat for less than one treatment with Advantage and other brands? Of course it felt like a steal, though we went into it cautiously, recognizing that it may not work, as well. We expected a continued battle with fleas. The reviews reflected, "Just one dose and you'll be saved!" and I didn't believe it, but we had no choice -- we had to try something and everything our vets recommended didn't work. I got this. We applied it immediately to all four cats. We waited. I was shocked to see, by the very next day, that my babies were still itching, but it wasn't frantic. They were not yowling, twitching, rushing us to be scratched as hard as I could manage. They weren't climbing me and my roommates for help. The day after, I was going about my business as usual. Except it wasn't usual...because I realized, halfway through the day, that I hadn't been "bothered". No one was rushing me. I wasn't tripping over a tormented cat. I went downstairs to check, and all four were laying peacefully in sun spots, stretched out, and asleep!! ASLEEP!! They had been waking up constantly while being bit. I can actually get this in my cat’s mouth quite easily and he’s not easy to give medicine to. The pills from what I understand, don’t seem to have any taste. The cat doesn’t seem to mind me putting it in his mouth. Both cats have taken this, and neither one of them seem to be very sensitive or seem to have any side effects. If they are still scratching after the next day, you can give another one safely. I often find I need to give these to the cats after guests who have other animals come over. It never fails, fleas or hitchhikers, and they will hitchhike rides in your shoes, your socks, your pants, even your purse or backpack bag. So these capstar pills are necessary to always have on hand. The ingredients are only 11.4mg of Nitenpyram, so it works well within an hour & they stop scratching. This box is a decent value for the money when they go on sale, since there is only 6 pills in the box. When they’re not on sale, this box is pretty expensive at over $7.50 per pill.

**Q: What is the difference between this and blue label Capstar?**
A: There's no difference, they just changed the packaging. I have these and gave a pill to our new kitten who is 4 months old, worked like a charm and there was no side effects. Capstar is the best solution for getting rid of fleas. And they don't pay me a dime for saying so.

**Q: Is this the medicine that makes the cat act nervous like something is biting it after about 20 minutes giving the pill?**
A: One of my cats did have this kind of reaction. He went so crazy it looked like he wanted to jump out of his skin. We gave him a bath after about 30-60 minutes of this behavior, which seemed to have helped a lot. It left him traumatized for a few days though.
Our three other cats who all had pills from the same pack did not have a reaction of this magnitude. They licked for a little while but calmed down.

**Q: does this stuff actually work?  how do you make the cat eat it?**
A: This product starts killing adult fleas on cats within 30 minutes.  It's important to mention if you have adult fleas on your cat, you have immature life stages of fleas in your house and/or yard.  Capstar will only kill the adult life stage so you can also use a topical IGR flea/tick product (one that kills adult fleas, larve, and eggs) along with this to help eliminate the other life states and eradicate the flea burden.  The product can be hidden in a treat your cat likes or you may have to pill him or her so that it's certain they get the entire dose.

**Q: Can this be given in addition to a topical flea solution?**
A: I've used the dog version of this medicine for years and have had nothing but great results.  I have put topical treatment and flea collars on the same day as treatment with the pill and never had any bad reactions.  I have standard poodles, the largest bread, and they have thick, kinky, hair that mattes easily, shampoo treatment just ruins their coats and makes it impossible for us to brush their already difficult hair.  So this product was a godsend for us.  I'm now about to purchase the car treatment for my cats that we rescued.  But to answer your question, absolutely you can use the topical treatment on the same day, I even have called animal poison control to confirm that it was safe, it's two different meds that work in two different ways.

And to the lady who was saying that she would never buy this product because she saw a review of an animal having a seizure from this medicine, you never know that pets medical history or if the person posting even takes their animals to the vets.  The reason it is extremely important to treat our animals with pesticides, or as you say dangerous chemicals, is because our fur babies are more likely to suffer or die from not being treated with these chemicals.  Fleas and ticks cause diseases, can carry heartworms, can make our animals anemic, and then the obvious make them miserable itching and dealing with painful bites.  I'm not trying to sway your mind or put you down in any way, I just don't want others to read your answer and not consider the alternative of not properly taking care of their pets parasites.  My dogs already have skin issues that cause itching and dryness, I couldn't bare to see them miserable with fleas bc I chose to use nothing or homeopathic medicine that does not work, bc we have also tried those and it's a waste of time, effort, and money.  I highly recommend these flea pills and like I said have used them for years along with the topical treatment and flea collars with no side affects other than being flea and tick free ever since we added these pills!
