It is somewhat stiff and, as it says, has loofah surface texture, so you can't make it sudsy before you use it. Pre-wet it, and you'll need to either drizzle a bit of soap along a lot of the length of it, or lightly rub your soap bar likewise. The sudsing comes as you work the scrubber along your wet back. **Q: Does the loofah need to be presoaked so it is not too stiff before each use?** A: Needs pre soaking. Best idea is to purchase an alternative product with a more robust material. **Q: Is this product made from real dried vegetable loofah?** A: I really think it is. When I use it the scrubbing action feels wonderful. I really like it. I am not sure if it is a dried vegetable loofah. The firmness of the loofah makes the whole thing flip over and try and wash my back with the material side. It doesn't curve with your body at all. Though, if using two hands at once, it can be bent to scrub your arms and legs, but not without resistance. And not every part of our awesome bodies can be reached with two hands at once, trying to re-form something so firm to meet the demands of our own curves.
