She is an outside cat and sleeps in my garage.I purchased a second one the following summer because the first one was getting stained and dirty. I am now ready to purchase a third one unless I can find something better. My cat seems to really like this mat when it is hot. I think the evaporation of the water has a cooling effect. She will lay on it for several hours until the garage cools down and then she moves to a higher location. I live in the south so we have very hot and humid summers.The mat is easy to hydrate. Soak it for approximately 30 minutes in clean water and hang it out side for an hour or so to get rid of the excess. The first time may take a littler longer because the mat is dried out. I place mine on the garage floor partly under the edge of my SUV. It takes approximately 2-3 days for it to dry out. Then repeat the process. It could be used inside if you have something to lay it on so the was would not stain carpet or damage flooring. It is not perfect, but it seems to do a reasonably good job and my cat has not tried to use it for a scratching pad. ### ⭐ 1.0 out of 5 stars I bought these for my 13 year old dog to stay cool.
