Review: Great for Witcher fans - First of all, many thanks to whoever at desertcart packed my order!! The scrunched paper inside the box made a HUGE difference in how my book was received. It was literally in perfect condition thanks to it being held in place by the paper, and not having the corners dinged up during transit. The book itself is super high quality. The paper is thick and glossy, the images are large and the text easy to read. It also has sewn binding, which means that the pages lay flat and there is no gutter loss. If you’re stuck between buying the cheaper paperback omnibus or this library version, I’d highly recommend that you choose this version instead. It’s well worth the extra $$! While the artwork is really dark and moody, which does a great job of representing the equally dark world of the Witcher, there is just one thing that I want to nitpick about. I kind of felt that the artist found drawing the anatomy difficult as there were a lot of poses/angles that just did not look right. Also, Geralt, who is the main character and ought to be the focus of the book, seems to have been drawn in a lazy manner. Whereas the supporting characters have cleaner lines and more details drawn in the face, Geralt is more often than not drawn with scratchy lines and has his eyes or other facial features blacked out. I know that some people are going to claim that this is the artist’s style, but I doubt that any true artist would choose to mess up the human anatomy. My second nitpick is with the last story in the book. Without revealing any spoilers, Geralt makes a comment in this story that contradicts his morals and beliefs. His behavior also seems out-of-character regarding the latter half of the story.
Review: This is such a wonderful collector's item!! - This is such an amazing piece to have on my shelf. Let me say this- I hate the cover art. It's so horrible and I just flat out hate it. It's really bad and very, very ugly. I settled for the paperback version last year and I just put it in my closet because it was paperback and it was so ugly to look at. But when the Library edition here came back down to a realistic price, I went ahead and bought it as well. It's so damn nice. Yes, the cover is still fugly but it's less dominate with a nice UV/ frame feature but the spine is really nice to look at. And it's HUGE. I wasn't prepared for how LARGE this collection is. It's like an old college text book or something. The art inside looks really nice and it just makes the whole experience better. I'd still like to kick whomever chose that 'art' for the cover in the nuts but as a shelf display and as for the interior work, it's just such a wonderful addition to my collection of Witcher gear.

The Witcher Library Editon Volume 1 is the entire Paul Tobin Dark Horse run of The Witcher plus the Killing Monsters One-Shot that was a pre-order bonus of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. All in a limited edition hardcover copy. You get three volumes and three arcs the House of Glass, Fox Children, and Curse of Crows. Following Geralt of Rivia as he moves from contract to contract and seeing all-new stories that are all new and haven't been in the books or games. Minus Fox Children, which was from the latest Witcher book Season of Storms. In terms of Witcher adaptions, the comics are set in the CD Projekt Red video game continuity. They nail the dark fantasy world of The Witcher and the character of Geralt in all his veteran quick-witted monster-slaying glory! Mainly if you played the games, he's indistinguishable from is video game counterpart 0r, even his Netflix show. All are coming from the original Andrej Sapkovski novels. However, the comics are not a high entry point to the franchise as the comics assume you have a general sense of the lore. Out of all of the volumes, the best one was absolutely Curse of Crows; it was the game-changer. As it is set post-Wild Hunt and you get to see the canonical choices of the Witcher 3 and presumably the direction of The Witcher 4, seeing Ciri is canonically a Witcheress. The rest of the stories are good enough; they're not game changers and don't fundamentally shake the lore. I see them as side quests from the video games. Now the art is passable but nothing surprising it's all over the place some panels look great another look terrible and the out of all the volumes the Fox Children looked the best, with the worse looking one being the Curse of Crows. I would say having anime Geralt of Rivia is the greatest thing the graphic novels give us. As he screams out his Witcher Signs like he was in some shonen anime at first, it was a bit cringy, but it grew on me, and now I want to see a Witcher Anime adaption. The Witcher Library Edition Volume 1 is for the fans. The stories are what you expect from the world of The Witcher, a Slavic Game of Thrones, where there are no real happy endings. Newcomers are better off watching the show or playing the Witcher 3 Wild Hunt. In terms of The Witcher rankings, I put the graphic novels on the lower end with the games being on top along with the books, but still, if you want more Witcher, this is not a wrong choice.
