It broke with normal use less than a year later. My hair salon was selling this for $20. more so I was happy to discover it on Amazon for a better price. I bought this for my daughter (who's away at college) for Christmas. I used this on her hair first, then mine. It was love at first curl! It heats up rapidly and is easy to handle. There is a technique to using this kind of curling iron and you may suffer a few minor burns until this technique is mastered. This tool is definitely not for the faint of heart! Our loose curls stayed beautiful (and SHINY!) the entire day, requiring only a little touch up the following morning if needed. I've had flat irons by Paul Mitchell in the past and have never been dissatisfied with their products. It isn't an inexpensive brand, but you really do get what you pay for and the price is absolutely worth it if what you're looking for is healthy-looking beautiful hair. This comes with an odd looking three-fingered heat resistant glove. I found this awkward to use and suggest using a full heat resistant glove, which Amazon sells. Once you master the technique, you will no longer need the glove.
