A good trap for yellow jackets
These work well as long as you keep the pheramone reasonably fresh. In western Washington the cartridges remain quite effective for about six weeks. Then add three or four drops of water and they are good for another ten days. If you empty the small pheramone packets to cotton and stick that in the trap, it lasts a couple weeks, with a couple drops of water adding about a week to effectiveness. The traps are relatively easy to use, though you want to empty tme at night in the active wasp season so they will not be trying to get in when you are clearing out the dead ones. But that is only required when the trap gets about 1/3 full. They are not a 100% capture device - none are - but if located in about 25 to 40 feet away from areas you want to have cleared, they are as good as putting out a wad of hamburger to attract the wasps and last longer. I place one on either side of the area I want clear so I can catch them coming from either direction. Hang them where pets and kids won't be unpleasantly surprised, about 5 feet off the ground. One caveat: my theory is that we trap the stupid wasps, allowing the smarter ones to evolve into super wasps - just kidding, sort of.

As advertised
Really does the job well. Fills up with bees quickly and changes the comfort level of my backyard.

They don’t work.
I can’t give this -5 stars so one will have to do. These traps are worthless. I bought three and they haven’t trapped a single yellow jacket since spring. I thought it might be expired bait so I bought the super expensive three-month cartridges. Nada, no yellow jackets. I even put two traps right next to a yellow jacket nest. Nada, nothing. Not a single yellow jacket, not one. These are very expensive traps and they do absolutely nothing.

Works great! 15/10 recommend!
Very please with this purchase. After dealing with the removal of 4 nests last year, I decided to try these out for this year. It was a night and day difference. No nests this year, I saw results within an hour of hanging up traps. I also had zero issues with loss of honey bees or any other type of bees. Honey bees are not bothered by the traps which was one of my concerns as I did not want to affect the environment in a harmful way if I damaged the population of them in my area. These are very easy to use and I have yet to renew the bait from the original use, because I have not had a moment to unload the trap due to the continued success of the product. I have recommended these to others and they have experienced the same success as myself. This is in my top 5 best Amazon purchases. I am very grateful to the creators of this product.

Their “attractant” is useless, use watermelon sugar syrup
Had 6 of these up for 5 days before a big bbq party. Wasps in the area, so I expected them to be full. Added the cotton balls and their attractant according to the instructions. Not a single wasp captured over those five days over 6 traps. Not great. Had the party, wasps were a little bit of a problem but nothing too major. Cleaning up the next day after all the garbage sat out, the wasps were terrible, circling around every garbage can. We had a snow cone machine that I bought 6 different flavors of syrup for. I noticed the watermelon flavored snocone syrup I also bought here on Amazon had twice as many dead wasps that had crawled in through the pour nozzle than any of the other ones. So, I decided to fill the little cup at the bottom of 3 of the 6 traps with a little bit of that syrup. Within four hours, those three traps looked like the one in my picture. The other three traps with just “attractant” still had zero. So TLDR, throw away their attractant and cotton ball, and just fill the bottom of the cup with some watermelon snocone syrup and actually catch some wasps. These are great traps, so I’m giving 4 stars. Would be 5 if the attractant actually attracted.

WOW! Caught over 25 wasps in less than 2 hours!
After hanging 2 of these up (front and back of house), within 15 minutes wasps were coming to the traps, and in 30 minutes they were swarming all around them. There were around 25 in the trap #1 and 16 in trap #2 within 2 hours, and nearly 70 inside the 2 of them by nightfall. We stood and laughed as they just kept coming. Today is day 3, and there are probably close to 175 dead wasps between the 2 traps so far, and they are still coming. The daily catch is lessening because there aren't many out in our yard now. Out of the 4-5 other traps we have used, this one has been the most effective. I don't get other reviews saying this doesn't work. Either instructions must not have been followed, traps were in a bad location, or perhaps product was old because these definitely work awesome at my house!

Sweet deal!
I waited a year to review... I put these out in the early spring to get the queens. All this past spring summer fall, I have yet to see one live wasp or hornet. I did catch dozens of wasps and hornets, I'll assume those early catches were queens. Ive had wasp and hornet problems here for years. No more with these things, they rock.

Do not re-use. Won't work. Factor in Price.
It works great, if brand new. They advertise "re-usable", but the fact is, no matter how much you clean it, or rinse it, once it's used for a season, the wasps avoid it the next season due to whatever the smell is or residue. I really don't think you can't re-use this.... I'm in my third season now, and every time I buy a new set, the wasps go to THAT new set. Price that in. False advertising.
