Pointer and OOP are the two major parts I am most interested at learning, and of course it covered. Regarding to OOP, I suggest compare Chapter 26, 28, 29 side by side while reading.2. Stephen extensively used code examples to illustrate points, and most importantly they are neither redundant nor over-simplified, so that I could master the features in affordable time.3. I would expect diagrams and some figurative examples, but it surprising to see Stephen's humor, e.g. code quoted: output << "Stephen is suave and handsome\n" << "and definitely note balding prematurely" << endl; . yeah, you make it Stephen.In sum, I learnt a lot. Importantly, its value still exists even though I have finished reading it. And I would keep it as 'code manual' or 'guide book' before I enter to higher level. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ New to C++? Start With This Book *by R***Z on October 18, 2015* I have spent way too much money on way too many books on C++ in a desperate effort to learn this "mother of all high-level languages", and this has turned out to be the most down-to-earth and user-friendly one yet. Mind you, I'm only about 30 pages in, but everything I've read so far has been the best of the best in terms of writing style and clarity. This is looking to be that book I wish I'd had when I was first trying to learn C++. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ It's ok *by P***R on July 25, 2021* I learned some things from this book, but frankly the writer is so "gabby." Certain sections just go on and on and on. I appreciate the plain language and anecdotal explanations, but it was often overdone.I am a beginning programmer and although I enjoy it quite a bit, there seems to be an enormous lack of good beginning texts out there. It's almost a graphic design issue. Why can't someone just write something with example code of the left-side of the page and thorough bullet-point explanations on the right side of the page? Easy to follow.
