The arms and clips are of study quality and this purchase even comes with an extra set of alligator clips. The fact that you can move the arms around freely is good, just make sure that the base you attach them to is sturdy. The clips hold on pretty tight and don't damage the items they are holding. It would be nice if the magnet at the base could be a removable option. The magnet is built in so be careful with items that are sensitive to them, like some electronics.
