A great investment. It makes a huge difference.
Our original jar had no problems after 3 years and over 1300 cycles, but we experienced too much cavitation (meaning that some ingredients would stay at the top rather than being sucked down to the bottom). We always put a lot of veggies into our drinks, so we were often forced to blend in two or three stages. And there were sometimes lumps left in it at the end. The new Wild Side blender solves the cavitation problem almost completely because of the extra room at the bottom and the much larger blade. (It helps to use the pulse button a couple times before using the smoothie button.) It blends much more smoothly, with no lumps. The new jar is also much easier to clean because it isn't as cramped at the bottom. It's designed really well. The top opening is virtually the same size as the original jar, believe it or not. It's the rest of the jar that's larger, particularly the bottom. It doesn't really look any larger than the original jar when placed on the the blender and it doesn't take up any more room on the counter. For anyone resisting it because of the price, it might be a false economy to save the money. For one thing, it will last for hundreds or even thousands of uses. But the key thing for us is that the Blendtec is something we use every single day, often several times a day, so we want it to perform as perfectly as possible. Another benefit is that we find ourselves putting more veggies and nuts into it because it blends things up so well, which means we get more nutrition each day. That's worth a lot to us. This jar costs about the same as one visit to the grocery store. We procrastinated for months on buying the Wild Side because of the expense and the fact that our original jar was still operating fine. Now we wish we had bought it three years ago.

Green Smoothie perspective, or, "Just what I needed"
This was so expensive I almost didn't buy it, but I'm SO glad I did! I've been using it about a month, and it's just what I needed to really make my life perfect right now. I used to make a green smoothie in the am, which gave my husband & I a large glass each and then some left over for my daughter (she didn't want as much at first). Then I'd make one again in the evening, which we would all share. Now everyone wants more GS, because they make us feel so great throughout the day - so I got this. This allows me to make larger batches, so we have some right then, my husband takes a thermos to work, then the rest goes into another thermos & into the fridge. When anyone wants a smoothie, they can shake the thermos and voila! I know that fresh is best, but practically speaking there are times when I say, "I'll make it in a few minutes" and then it's 2 hours later. With this, I can definitely say that not only am I having 2-3 times more smoothie in a day, but so is my family - and we can all tell how much better we feel! This makes it worth the initial $$ output, in my opinion. So I still make 2-3 green smoothies per day but there is now enough to keep everyone happy & smiling. It's also great for making raw soups in large enough quantity for dinner for three or four. It's easier to clean, since it's bigger (not that the standard size is difficult to clean). It does seem to blend a little easier, with the 'wild side'. Can't comment yet on longevity; for the price I hope it holds up for years, but even if it doesn't, I'd say that it's worth it just for the added health it's providing my family. I still use the smaller size that came with my Blendtec all the time for other raw recipes, but for Green Smoothies and Soups, I always reach for this.

Much Improved Jar
I've had a Blendtec since 2008. Unfortunately the original jar I had started leaking and I was outside the warranty period to get a new jar from the company (boo!). I opted to pick up the WildSide Jar model with the extra side and have been totally satisfied. This jar works so much better than the standard four sided jar. I primarily use my Blendtec to make smoothies. I pack the jar full with all the ingredients at one. Iโve done my research and I know how to stack them to assure they blend well (liquids/soft items on the bottom, frozen stuff on top). With the original four-sided jar I often had to stick a spoon or spatula or something into the jar to get my smoothie moving after the first blend or two. An air pocket would form in the middle and the half blended smoothie would stop blending. I didnโt buy a Blendtec to have to fuss with my smoothie blending. I bought it because the high powered motor, special jar and blade were supposed to do the work for me. Was having to stick a spoon in to release the air pocket in the middle that kept it from moving all that onerous? No. But it was still annoying and added to the time it took to blend since Iโd have to do at least 2 if not 3 smoothie setting cycles to get it smoothed. The WildSide Jar has completely taken care of that. I pack my smoothie the exact same way into the WildSide Jar. Once I hit the smoothie button it just goes. The smoothie keeps moving and itโs blended perfectly with one smoothie setting blend. My old jar also started to look kind of gross after a while. I neglected to follow the instructions after a year or so and started cleaning it out with a bristled brush. Do not do this. The jar really does clean itself if you rinse it, put some soap in and fill it halfway with water, and then use the soup setting to let it swirl and clean. The water gets even hotter on this setting, so you can be sure it did clean up the inside. I give it a rinse to get the soap out and just use my fingers to rub down the area where the lid may trap some leftover blender product in the jar. The new Wildside Jar has kept its new, pristine look this way. Next time I need to replace the jar for my Blendtec (hopefully years and years down the line like my first jar) I would definitely repurchase the WildSide Jar model.

Better than the one that came with blender
I bought a Blendtec blender 7 years ago.. I liked it, didn't truly love it. I use a blender every day but found that not everything got blended all the time. I use it mostly for smoothies and to make soups A few weeks ago, the blade in the jar (Wildside jar as well) got loose and broke off. I decided to give it one more try and order a new Wildside jar instead of spending a lot of money on another blender. Now the jars are not cheap either, so I kept fingers crossed. I have been using the blender with the new jar for a little over 2 weeks now and it is a world of difference as compared with the older version of the jar. Blender works perfectly. Is much quieter than it has ever been and blends absolutely perfectly. Maybe I got a defective one when I bought the whole blender, I will never know. I am just happy to be able to use my Blendtec, and better than before. I do like the new lid design as well. I kept the old lid, just in case, but this seems to work much better and leaks less.

It's great, but can pit
I bought a Blendtec that came with the Four Side jar and needed something bigger. This is a great alternative jar. It is the same height as the Four Side, but wider. I use this jar to make ice cream, salsas, and smoothies. I only wash mine by hand which can be done under the faucet or just add a tiny drop of soap with a cup of water and blend it clean. It will blend fruits, vegetables, herbs, and nuts so that they are nothing but a paste or liquid. If you want your food to have a more chopped texture, use the pulse option on your blender. I am taking off one star because this jar will pit. I have not had any problem with seeds or nuts, but the jar wound up pitting at the lower 2 inches of the sides and bottom because I blended whole raw eggs in it with the shells to make dog food. I was very surprised at the scratched surface and could not figure out what caused it at first, but Amazon was great in getting me a replacement jar. If you grind egg shells or grains, make sure you have a separate jar for that. I called Blendtec about this issue and they said it is not dangerous to use the jar even if it pits. Other than that issue, I feel this is a good investment if you have a Blendtec and need an additional jar.

Was Exactly What I wanted
I either needed a new blender of a new jar. Since there was nothing wrong with the Blendtec motor, I gave in to buy my 2nd replacement jar as we know the weak point is the bearing and holder at the bottom of the jar. I decided to upgrade to the larger 90 oz. Wild Side jar as my wife makes huge frozen smoothies. I read all the some 1300 Reviews and many have complained about the jar lid and how it dies not have the air hole or the window, so it builds up pressure and leaks out of the top, So, let me give everyone some discoveries that I made. Amazon and Blentec offer two verssions of the Wild Side Jar. Also, do not be fooled into ordering a copy jar as they are 1/2 the price and apparently judged by many as not the same quality as a genuine Blendtec. So, there are two versions of the Blentec Wild Side Jar. The commercial one is basically the same, except it has the lid without the vented air hole and the commercial only has a 1 year waranty. The non-commercial Home version has a 3 year waranty and does come with the vented window lid. Also, the 4 side Blendtec jar and the 5 side Wild Side jar are the same height and the lids from both jars are interchangable. I'm keeping my old lids, just in case. In addition, I see that Blendtec sells on Amazon a replacement lid with the vented window for around $26, in case many of you with the non vented leaky ones want to fix that problem. In sommery, buy the Home (not the commercial) replacement jar as they appear to be the same upgraded bearing, and the home version (at least mine did), has the vented window lid that latches and does not leak.

Much better quality than the last cheap one I bought
Some people complain about the lid, but if I push mine down on each side until I feel it lock on, it is more secure than my original. The material used to form the jar is more clear and marked in a more professional manner. On the last cheaper one I purchased the jar was cloudy looking. The bearing wore out within a couple years and started leaking. I'm hopeful the bearing is a better quality on this one.

Same size as original blender jar
This Blendtec jar is the exact replacement you need if you are looking to replace the one that came with the original blender. This has a slim, redesigned lid that is easier to clean. We had already thrown out our broken one (the seal at the bottom had worn out) so we had to guess at the size. This works perfectly, and I love how clean the plastic looks on the new jar!

Expensive but worth every penny
This is a really, really big improvement over the original jug that came with the Blendtec - yes, it's expensive but it's perfect in almost every way; superb fit (no looseness on the blender, sits snug); much quieter; much easier to clean because of the larger size (the original used to scrape my fingers when getting in with the cleaning pad, doesn't happen with this one); much larger size so much larger smoothies and, most especially, whatever material it's made from, it is much cleaner looking and feels so much better to the touch, almost as if it's antibacterial in some way (perhaps it is?) Water just runs off it. If you've been thinking of getting a new jug for your Blendtec, don't hesitate, just get this one (and btw, I hesitated for several months...went so far as to glue the seal on the previous jug with araldite to try avoid shelling out ยฃ100 for a jug...but it wasn't cool to see the black stuff coming into my smoothies as the remaining rubber seal started to deteriorate and with smoothe going all over the place...!) Anyway, highly recommend this item

Bin soweit zufrieden - alles ist wie erwartet.
I bought this "jar" because the one my Blendtec came with, was too small. I can't really say if the Wildside Jar is really so much more efficient. Maybe at a later date?!

Perfect replacement
After 3000 uses, our original WildSide jar's plastic started to degrade and became tacky Ordered this as a replacement, working perfectly so far! Hopefully it lasts another 3000 because these jars are expensive, although this one was significantly cheaper than the others available on Amazon. The lid is also different from the original and doesn't seem to fit as well, but no leaks
