Wonderful book for the early budding backyard farmer. Vivid colors of vegetables will keep any toddler/youn read captivated as they learn the names of vegetables and see the process for growing food that can be cooked with.

Yes, it’s about growing and harvesting veggies to make soup but the pictures and text are fairly simple and make the idea of eating vegetables into an adventure. This author is great and we have several of her books, all of which make us want to get out and garden. This one makes my kids request veggies at meals- thank you!

Kids love this story. The colors are bold, and the story allows for basic vocabulary building related to gardening. The story reads really nicely, and leads children to the understanding that their food comes from a garden, and that a garden can produce vegetables to use in soup. It talks about how the vegetables are noted, how they grow, a SN how they are prepared and cooked together for a meal. I accidentally ordered the paperback instead of the board book, so pay attention to the fact that there is a choice. I am sure that it is obvious, but I missed it. I was ordering it for a gift, so I was sad at myself for the mistake, but the book is one of our favorites.
