The North Korean government, sensing an opportunity, sends a fleet of 'rebels' in the first land invasion that Japan has ever faced. Japan can't cope with the surprise onslaught of 'Operation From the Fatherland, with Love'. But the terrorist Ishihara and his band of renegade youths - once dedicated to upsetting the Japanese government-turn their deadly attention to the North Korean threat. They will not allow Fukuoka to fall without a fight. Epic in scale, From the Fatherland, with Love is laced throughout with Murakami's characteristically savage violence. It's both a satisfying thriller and a completely mad, over-the-top novel like few others. Review: Informed, Prophetic - Ryu Murakami weaves a tale of informed near-future speculative fiction. Though set in 2011 after a collapse of the Japanese economy and government, considering the current situation in Japan, the scenario is nothing short of prophetic. Murakami writes with a deep understanding of his own countrymen's and culture's strengths and weaknesses. He doesn't pull punches. Though a long read, readers will not be disappointed as Murakami carefully crafts all the characters, situations and action with a clear purpose. And while it is clear who the antagonists are, it is not so clear that they are necessarily 'evil', nor is it clear who the protagonists are. This ambiguity makes for a heart-pounding page-turner. Review: A great book but is a long one. - An incredible story by Ryu Murakami. I personally was engrossed all the way. However, this book may not appeal to readers who prefer strong character driven stories. It is a story told from many points of view to bring you the whole picture. Most of the characters(maybe even all) are static characters, they don't grow or change much. Still it is a great story that can only be told thru multiple points of view and Murakami does exactly that throughout the book. And that also lends the narrative a n aura of serious believability. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Best Sellers Rank | #512,241 in Books ( See Top 100 in Books ) #6,473 in Contemporary Literature & Fiction #24,098 in Literary Fiction (Books) #141,765 in Genre Literature & Fiction | | Customer Reviews | 4.3 out of 5 stars 144 Reviews | ## Images ![From the Fatherland with Love (B-Format Paperback) - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61zyktdYPHL.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Media Format** options. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Informed, Prophetic *by M***A on December 11, 2013* Ryu Murakami weaves a tale of informed near-future speculative fiction. Murakami goes into great detail to show HOW North Korea could walk right into Japan. That's actually the depressing part. Some compelling characters on both sides and a great climax near the end. If you like Ryu Murakami, you'll like this book. --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.in/products/147764935-from-the-fatherland-with-love-b-format-paperback](https://www.desertcart.in/products/147764935-from-the-fatherland-with-love-b-format-paperback) --- *Product available on Desertcart India* *Store origin: IN* *Last updated: 2026-10-21*
