## Customer Reviews

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Good value controller, with the regular budget faults.

*by J***E on Reviewed in the United States on 7 July 2018*

Disclaimer: I bought this controller for the shell, but have included both a review of the controller itself over a couple days of use, and my experience in joining the back shell with the front of a Smash 4 controller._____________________________________________________The controller felt fine. I could see it being broken in very, very quickly, but the value is great and I would absolutely recommend it if you have friends over every now and then for more casual games. I used the controller in Smash 4, briefly tried Melee, and some Switch titles such as Wizard of Legend and Crawl.Sticks:• Both the Control Stick and C-Stick have a "textured" feel when moved. Not too bad at all, but noticeable.• Became loose within deadzone range after just ~5 hours of play. Has not noticeably effected gameplay yet, but definitely effects feel. Both of these points are things budget/3rd party GC controllers struggle with, and were expected.Face Buttons:• Somewhat clicky, but I'm ok with them. Kind of feel like a high-resistance membrane keyboard.• D-pad is good, does not feel any different from a normal GC controller aside from more resistance.Shoulder Buttons:• Relatively poor. L and R buttons are wobbly, and similar to the sticks, have a textured feeling when moved. But they function.• Z-button is clicky. Straight-up tactile click (audible as well), with the only push-back being the button itself. For reference, Smash 4 controllers have a piece of metal that push back so there's at least a bit of squish/resistance.Rumble:• Fine, but different than a Nintendo brand GC controller. More details in the following section.Shell:• Also fine, with small differences compared to the Smash 4 GC controller. More details in the following section._____________________________________________________As noted above, I bought this controller for the shell. I was able to get the back of the shell to fit to the front shell of a White Sm4sh controller, but did not bother trying to get all of the Sm4sh controller internals to fit into the entire shell. I believe it's possible, but wasn't worth the effort to me - and I think the White + Dark Clear Purple combo looks better! If you plan to do the same, there are some things you should keep in mind.• The screw holes are in the same spots as on a Sm4sh controller, but the screws themselves are smaller (and phillips). - If using the screws on your Sm4sh controller, you will be re-threading these holes. - The screws from this controller threaded in too loosely to keep the controller joined.• The rumble in this controller is small. Because of this, the plastic bits in the controller supporting the rumble are much larger. - If you plan to (or already have) removed the rumble in your Sm4sh controller, this does not matter. - If you are keeping your rumble (I did), you will have to cut this plastic down. I used a Dremel. If you got a clear shell like I did, be conscious of hitting the sides of the controller as it will pick up scuffs very easily, which are somewhat visible when the controller is assembled.• The Z-button is offset, and a slightly different shape. This effects both the cutout, and the hole that the button's "posts" on the inside slot-in to. - If the controller is facing towards you, the right-side of the hole (furthest from the Start button) is what will need to be adjusted. I used a Dremel for this as well, and the result is a cutout that has space on either side of the Z-button when inserted. I'm not picky though. - On the inside of the controller, there is a hole that posts on the Z-button rest in, next to the screw hole. I got rid of this (again with the Dremel). I kept my Sm4sh controller Z-button, and when the shells are joined, it is now slightly angled very slightly since the Z-button's post is now pressed against the flat of the back shell. Again, not picky, but it did take a little bit to get used to.• Even though there are no plates holding in the shoulder buttons in this controller, there are mounting points for them so you may properly reinstall your Sm4sh controller buttons.• There is a noticeable seam after the shells from either controller are joined, suggesting this controller is either not exactly the same size as a Sm4sh controller, or there is some additional stuff inside preventing the shells from being joined seamlessly. This can easily be felt and seen around where the cord comes out.All in all I made it work and am satisfied with the look considering I only shelled (hah) out $10 for the controller. Despite doing custom paint for others, I like the semi-clear look most and am not too picky when it comes to the feel or details of my own controller's shell. The Z-button bit is unfortunate (still a stickler about button/stick feel!) but it has not effected my gameplay.

    Surprisingly good for the price

*by C***Y on Reviewed in the United States on 1 February 2019*

Look, these are 3rd party controllers, you're not gonna get the quality of a Nintendo licensed product here. That being said, these are pretty dang good controllers. The buttons feel pretty solid, the sticks feel good, and the weight is just fine. The only negatives I can see are that the cords are very short, and the Z button is very clicky and different. Other than that, you get 2 surprisingly good controllers for a very good price, what more could you want?Edit as of 27MAY19I really just came back to say that I am beyond impressed with these controllers. My above statements still stand, but these controllers have lasted longer than any other 3rd party controller that I've ever had. Seriously, They're still going strong. I'm not saying I'm constantly using them and beating the ever living crap out of them, but they have gone through countless very intense smash rounds, and I still have not had any major issues. Seriously, get these controllers. They are absolutely worth the small price.

Both controllers faulty in less than six months

*by C***S on Reviewed in the United States on 17 December 2018*

You may be thinking by reading the headline of this review that it's no big deal if something fails on the controller, but it actually is. What failed on both controllers is an analog stick; it's stuck in a single position on each controller (c-stick stuck to the left on one, and regular analog stick stuck on the bottom left on another controller). It makes playing video games impossible. I want my money back. i purchased these controllers thinking that they'd at least hold up for a year. Nope, they're so cheap that they both failed less than six months after purchasing them with little use (I'm guessing < 30 hrs each controller). There's a reason that Nintendo sells gamecube controllers for $30; you need to spend that kind of money to purchase a controller that is far less likely to break; in fact it's likely that those controllers from the original gamecube are still working today (over a decade later). I'm never going to buy cheap controllers again! Buyer beware.
