Does this really need a review

I only played the first song on this album for the longest time. But the rest is pretty good too. Now that I’ve listened to it.

Though not as epic as Rainbow Rising, this album features the most known Rainbow song and one of my favorite tunes of all time. Man On The Silver Mountain, is killer. It doesn't need to be blazing fast, heavy as a rock, or so brutal your ears will bleed. This track is mellow and powerful at the same time. Self Portrait is a good rock song, and is one of Dio's most underrated performances. Black Sheep Of The Family, an upbeat track and is just as powerful as the first song. Has a great groove feeling to it. Catch The Rainbow, one of the songs that will live on through the ages. If you have never heard this song you need to. Snake Charmer is upbeat and has one of Blackmore's best guitar performances on the whole album. The Temple Of The King, a mid pace mellow track and it is a decent track doesn't match the energy of the first tracks. The last two tracks are pretty average. Except for Sixteenth Century Greensleeves has Ritchie Blackmore at the albums heaviest point and his solo is really impressive.

I had to have new copy of this. It was intended to be a one time solo project from Blackmore which apparently blossomed into an entirely seperate band from Deep Purple. There are some clear differences here betweenDP and Rainbow. Teh first being that this is pretty much Ritchie in control all the way through. While some songs are similar to DP the noticeable difference is classical influence, including the first recording of Ritchie on acoustic guitar. The album is strong all the way through. Especially impressive is the instrumental reworking of The Yardbirds 'Still I'm Sad' and the Hendrix-inspired 'CAth The Rainbow'. Dio's vocals are top notch on every cut. This album showcases some different sides of Ritchie's guitar playing and is my personal favorite Rainbow album. Many years later and even with the passing of Ronnie James Dio it still holds a place amongst greatest albums of the seventies if not of all time.

Richie and Ronnie. What a pair of music geniuses! Every track is mind blowing. As for the shipping, if was totally unsatisfactory. I finally received it after over a month, so I give it one star fat shipping and ten stars for Rainbow.

What a great album by an amazing band that no one ever heard of. Dio's vocals are incredible. Blackmore's guitar work is gorgeous. The fact that he fired the band after this recording might lead you to suspect that there is something wrong with this effort. There is NOTHING wrong with this effort. There is everything RIGHT. The drumming is amazing. The bass is a treat. It's really a perfect album. Call it hard rock, call it metal, doesn't matter. Just great, powerful music. And what can I say about Dio's singing? Stunning. Simply the best.

Excellent debut album. Well worth a listen.Arrived promptly but has cracks in the case. Try to package better for the post delivery.
