Review: Your scooter questions answered - Your scooter questions answered: I really like this scooter, especially for the price. I understand why some complain, but there are very good reasons why the manufacturer did what they did. Yes the batteries are very old school, and you cannot quickly change them on a ride. But those “quick insert” lithium bike batteries cost $350 to $1000 each. The batteries in this scooter cost less than $20 each (there are 2 of them). Scooter has big tires so I figured it might work on some dirt roads in the desert that the skinny tire scooters would not. But this scooter has no climbing ability so we will see if it works out. This scooter is small enough that it actually fits well in my small van RV where space is precious. Pros • Replacement batteries are very cheap to replace, less than $20 each. • Quality seems very good, time will tell. I WILL keep this review updated. • They claimed up to 40 minutes run time, I got 45 minutes…nice. • Even though the throttle is on only, it is not that bad (not enough power to make much of a difference). • Speed seems very adequate, (but I did not determine how fast the top speed was). • I called the Razor help line twice and got through very quickly and got excellent help. • For a scooter this has fairly large tires making it ride smoother for rougher roads. • Comes with a removable seat so you can use this as a typical scooter or as sort of a small bike. • Easy to assemble, maybe took me 15 minute with no problems. • Holds up to 220 pounds, this will fit most people. Cons • Throttle is on only, it is not variable. • Charge controller is not a smart controller, the light will turn from red to green, making you think it is a smart controller and fully charged, but not so, the lights are meaningless. This will be very confusing to most people. • Slows down horribly at the slightest hill, most hills you will be walking. • The scooter uses old type lead acid batteries which take up to 12 hours to recharge. And they add a lot of weight to the scooter. • You cannot quick change the batteries on a ride so you can go further. But they are easy to change when if they wear out, just like a car battery. • Hard to put air in the rear tire. They provide an extension but it has no threads for a normal pump. Conclusion: For the price they are charging, and the perceived quality, I think this scooter is a definite 5 star item even though I gave it several cons. Just the battery alone for my electric bike costs 2 times the price of this complete scooter. Any questions just ask, I will answer if I can. I will keep this review updated as needed.
Review: Fast, high torque - I got this for my 110 lbs wife to ride to local gym and athletic park. It's a very fast little scooter for her, felt as though it was hitting speed of 18 mph for her body weight and took her by surprise at first. She's only 5'2" so she's already on her toes when seated, so keep that in mind if you are getting this for person under 5 feet, their feet won't reach the ground and it can get dangerously fast. The motor is not too noisy, the chain doesn't rattle like some reviewers had mentioned. The throttle is not adjustable, it's just one fast speed so be prepared for that jolt of power. Really wish the throttle had adjustable power, would like to cruise steady at a slower speed instead of the jerkiness of a one-speed throttle. I myself who weigh 168 lbs found this scooter to be quite a powerful little scooter and perfect for my size (I'm 5'8"). It can pull me up a slight slope but no major hill climbing (only for my petite wife, it can haul her) just doesn't have the power. My wife loves this scooter, prefers electric over her old smokey 2- stroke engine from her teen years. There's no battery monitor so you need to keep track of your usage. It can cruise about 6-8 miles per 12-hour charge depending on your weight. This scooter is so slim and compact that we can lock it next to her car in her carport, plenty of space for her to still get in her car. We bought it for $209 for gray, got a basket $23 and Valet My Stick lock for $20. Small investment for us to go green in our neighborhood, very happy with our purchase.

## Features

- Product Note: Max speed and range per charge vary based on several factors, including: rider weight, riding surface, incline, ambient temperature, battery level, riding style (stop/start vs cruising), etc.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can the seat be removed and used without the seat?**
A: Yes. We removed seat for our 8 year old son. He was just a little too short for seat. It is great with or without seat.

**Q: What's the best way to avoid overcharging or undercharging the battery between uses?**
A: All these dry acid batteries lifetime are measured in battery cycles. So its not important overcharging or undercharging (The charger has a built in features that avoids damages by overcharging) but if you do not wait till the light changes from red to green, you are adding charging cycles and shortening the overall battery life. So my recommendation is do not charge every time you are back to the charging station, but when you feel a decrease in the scooters power) and once charging begins, wait till its fully charged (And add some time more, because even with green light it gets a better charge)

**Q: What type of replacement battery do I need to purchase? Where can I find a replacement battery?**
A: I upgraded to 9 amp. batteries when the OEM's gave up. I used "Chrome Battery" on ebay store, approx. $35.00 for two. The store is very reliable, the batteries came very quickly - about two days - and free shipping. Chrome Battery products come with an 18 month warranty; I would definitely use them again.

**Q: Weight limit?**
A: I believe the weight limit stated is 160 lbs., but it worked well for me at 180 lbs. Just don't expect top speed when riders are over 120 - 140 lbs.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Working well as a surgery recovery mobility aid
*by K***B on April 2, 2015*

This would be a 5 star rating 1) if it had a continuous speed throttle allowing for continuous, smooth low speeds, and 2) more power under challenges like hills, and 3) if the battery lasted longer. Apart from these three notable limitations, this scooter has served me very well so far. At 49 years of age and 125 pounds, I fall far out into the 13 and up category ;), so that should be factored into my evaluation of it performance to some degree. Also the purpose at this time of this scooter for me, is mobility as I recover from a foot surgery. It is not inherently safe or particularly intended for this purpose, but as an active person very accustomed to riding gas scooters, gas motorcycles, and all types of bicycles, I am comfortable using it this way. I use to it from the parking lot at work, to, and up into my office. But that one reason the 15 mph single speed is difficult to get used to and always results in a compromised ride, at least when not riding it for recreational purposes. PLEASE BE AWARE OF THIS BEFORE YOU PURCHASE; I WAS NOT. I have to on and off the throttle to mimic a steady low speed (which I think is somewhere rather high, maybe around 5 mph?) and even then, a very slow speed (3mph or less) is very hard to get and cannot be maintained. So to go slowly you surge forward (not a very jerky surge, but still not smooth) then let go and glide down to the speed you really want. I do manage to use it safely, but for my purposes a continuous speed throttle would be extremely preferable. If this was not a temporary situation, I would invest in upgrading to that which I noticed is available on ebay. The lack of great power is not that important to me now for my current situation, but when I am better it will influence whether I keep it or sell it. I have tested it on varying terrain here and there such as hills, and light off-road and was disappointed in its power and acceleration under challenge. But my background is having all motorized licensed vehicles; I have never owned a battery-run scooter so I am probably comparing apples and oranges to some degree. As far as the limited battery time, I have never run out of battery to know how long it will last, because due to my infirm status I charge it compulsively. However I can tell by charging time that the 5-20 minutes at a time that I do use it is sucking a fair bit of juice. The HUGE pluses for me given my situation, especially when comparing this to the other sizes of razor scooter, is having the optional seat (plenty comfortable and sizable for my purposes/distances) and the option to kick and glide. If I am in a tight area, or in an area in the building around other people that is flat, I can use the scooter by pushing off with my good foot, with no throttle. Not all of the razor scooters have this feature for whatever reason. Lifting 45 pounds in and out of my car everyday has not been a problem for me, as I am able to grab it easily and move it quickly enough without burdening either foot too much. It has unbalanced weight like the old tube TVs so if you choose the right places to grab it, it cooperates better. So this review may not be very helpful for those shopping for a scooter for a child, but this is how it has served me. It was an impulse purchase, and I feel lucky it is serving me as well as it is given that. When I was on crutches, it was invaluable and I found a way to secure the crutches on the handlebars and they cleared the throttle completely and left the brake side completely unhindered. Again, it was not intended for this, and there would be consequences if something were to happen, but it didn't and there weren't. Then when I was surprised with the sentence of 4 weeks in a huge walking boot, though I was off crutches, the scooter was even better for getting me longer distance more quickly (for one thing my foot had better protection). The platform on this thing is sizable enough at least for my body size to rest a huge walking boot comfortably (or both feet) with room to spare. I can sit towards the back, middle or front of the seat too to some degree. One other thing for people of all ages and circumstances to note: the ON/OFF SWITCH IS INCONVENIENTLY PLACED out of sight by the charging plug on the side below the platform/deck: VERY EASY TO LEAVE ON!! It is also a little hard to reach from the seat or even from standing if you are in a surgical walking boot. But despite its notable limitations, overall this scooter has been GREAT to have. Two days door to door with prime and assembles in 15 minutes or less: cannot beat that!
