this product is awesome, i bought it to play first person video games. while wearing the product you can see your surroundings still from the top and the bottom, which doesn't effect it much, but i like to put a black bandanna over it and use it in the dark. it takes a little bit for your eyes to adjust, but it will begin to feel comfortable after a bit, they may be sore for a minute after you take them off tho. the sound is awesome, the ear buds stay in real well and its almost like they suction in. you can adjust the brightness, color, and volume from a connected controller, light weight, when watching movies you kind of get that movie theater effect which is awesome, i really like watching movies on this device. really cool product, get it while you can.p.s. makes you look like Geordie LaForge

I had the misfortune of my first pair being returned (And a big thanks to Back Country Trading, the seller, for such excelent customer service and reasonably priced/quick shipping), but as a result Ive had my hands on two different working units. The screens on both pairs of glasses displayed color and played audio suprisingly well.I did not notice any miscolored or dead/bright pixels on either unit's screens, but the pixels themselves are still evident, which may be an annoyance, but not so much as to deter me from using them. I wear glasses, and have good vision up to a foot or so away before things start to blur. Unfortunatley, it seems the virtual 6-9 feet away effect circumvents my otherwise clear up-close vision, and my fairly slim glasses do not fit with the device. The virtual 40ish inch screen from X feet away doesnt really seem like a massive screen as I would have hoped, its not misleading when you do the math, but its more comperable to a virtual 3 inch screen a foot away from your face if you ask me. The alternative is to buy a 3 pack of these clip on frames (if you can find them) two of which are basicaly reading glasses, whith the third being a pair you can take to your eyedoctor, and purchase lenses to be fit into the frame, which clips onto the device itself. Needless to say that can be an expensive solution for glasses wearers. The machine has a pendant with volume, contrast and brightness options. This pendant is hard wired into the end of the left arm that goes over your ear. From this pendant you charge the device via mini-b port, (and make sure you fully charge it before your first use, otherwise you can shorten battery life span and run time), and plug in the AV cables. This model comes with three input cables, one has the standard AV Composite cables (Red yellow white, white and red for audio, yellow for video) for things like video game console hook up. The other two input cables are basicaly headphone jack style cables with a third "stipe" to carry a video signal out with the audio. While the two I bought were labeled as an Ipod cable and a nokia cable, these two cables are compatible with many other video out devices using the same style of headphone/video jack. Because this specific jack is not "universal", some players use different stipes of the cable to send the audio and video, so while the two provided look the same, they actually do work with a different variety of machines. Of course using them on machines other than the ones specified may reverse the stereo audio (left sound comes from the righ speaker and vice versa) even though the video plays fine. In most cases, all of my devices with this style of jack played video over one of these two cables, and the ones that didnt were compatible with the composite cables. One major design flaw I see with the device is the way the headphones are built into the glasses. It makes me uncomfortable to think "what if these break or get snagged on something?" As conveinient as they are, I wish they were detachable and plugged into a headphone jack either on the pendant or that they were a really small corded ear bud set which plugged into the glasses' frame somewhere. On the other hand, its one less long cable to dangle around your neck. The headphones also wont work without video playing, since the unit conserves power by shutting off automaticaly when it doesnt see a video signal for a few seconds. I havent tested video playback outside on a sunny day, but if you wanted, you could go outside and walk around while wearing these things. You still have to be careful, especialy around cars (beep beeeep splat) but I had plenty of space above and below the glasses to see my surroundings. In short, these are very convienient, if a little clunky. Some people may find these dont fit them very well or pinch them. The nose-peice may not be comfortable and looks flimsy enough to worry me. I would also not be comfortable carring it around in a backpack or luggage unless it was inside a box that kept things from putting pressure on them and prevent the earphones from snagging. They have a decent 4 hour battery life which is roughly the battery life on your portable video players anyway, and (assuming it can play and charge, haven't tried) maybe you can plug them into a power source for long road trips when your not driving. They make for a decent portable console gaming screen, as well as an excelent video screen for people with the right ports or output cables on their video playback device. I was able to read text rather well on the screen, but I dont recomend anything text heavy. Think before you buy: "Do I have situations where I dont want my video screen to be seen by others, and do I have situations where I need a video screen but cannot otherwise take one with me?"
