A Must Buy Accessory
While I can see some people being upset about the price being on the higher end, i can happily say that it is worth the asking price. I have many different android tv boxes, and of course the amazon fire tv, and this remote is my favorite to use. The remote sports a slim, elegant design, very responsive controls, and it is feature packed to the brim for your enjoyment.Let's talk look and features:*Very slim but strong*Made of a metal body*Has a headphome jack for private listening*Has a touch sensitive volume slider to ajust sound*Rechargeable Battery Via usb*Very fast charging*Long lasting batteryThis remote is optional for your Shield tv, but if you're serious about the device, you'll want to pick this bad boy up. Little side note, you can also pair this to other android tv devices such as the Nexus player. I highly suggest this over the stock remote it comes with.Thank you for reading my review, if i helped you out in any way, please rate this as "helpful."

A little pricey but overall fantastic!
I got this with my NVIDIA SHIELD TV because of the wife acceptance factor. There was no way she was going to be okay with using a controller to navigate with. The controller is really solid and the built in rechargeable battery is top notch. The volume feature which is located in the bottom middle by scrolling up and down is great for my setup. This allows the user to change the volume output from the actual device itself. Since I have a projector and surround sound and everything else in the world hooked up using Logitech Harmony Home Control - 8 Devices (Black) which allows everything to be in one place through a phone app. It works wonderfully and would definitely recommend to anyone with an advance setup. The stand out point though is that it is really nice to have a tactile couch lounging remote to actually browse shows with. Which can be cumbersome through the app and not nearly as fun with the actual Harmony remote this works perfectly. The voice search features is great for Youtube videos and the buttons all seem to be built really well so far.I took away one start because while I love the remote it is a bit too much like Apple pricing for my taste. If this was $10 cheaper I think it would hit the sweet spot.

It's better than the Amazon Fire Bluetooth remote I was using before.
I was an early adopter of the Shield TV so they weren't giving out these remotes for free. So instead of spending $50 for a nVidia remote I spent $15 or so on the Amazon Fire Bluetooth remote and was fairly happy with it. There's nothing wrong with the Amazon remote by any means... the techie feedback feels nice and the controls are well laid out. But it requires batteries to be charged and typing out words becomes a chore. I eventually paired a cheap Logitech Bluetooth keyboard to my Shield TV box, but reaching down to bring out a keyboard is not much better then the problem it's meant to solve. And it takes up a ton of space on a tabletop. So when I eventually had $50 in my pocket I grabbed the nVidia remote. It has that nifty microphone in it so most apps let you say words instead of typing them, and it charges via the USB port on the TV box. The remote has it's battery level integrated well with the software on the Shield TV, so a small dialog will appear when it starts running low. The Bluetooth remote, that simply stopped working when it was out of juice.I thought $50 was overpriced for this remote, but after having it for some time... I can't go back.

Not a great design, but lacking anything else, it suffices.
It works okay, but it isn't going to win any awards. First the good: This is small! It is sleek and fits well in the hand. The directional buttons are well-placed and easy to use. The wireless headphone jack on the bottom is so amazingly useful, you'll wonder how you ever lived without the feature. On the other hand, the microphone, while it works great, isn't actually as effective as the designers think it should be. There's a giant mic button that you will almost never use.But the good pretty much ends there. Starting with the most common complaint, the battery life is miserable. The problem is not so much that it doesn't last while using it -- I've only had it die on me once. The problem is that if you don't use it for a few days, you'll find it dead and completely useless. It won't immediately be obvious what's wrong, though, because of the second problem. Slow wakeup. The developers could see that the battery in here was limited, and so they gave the controller an aggressive sleep mode. So, when you stab the pause button after watching a movie for 15 minutes or so, it will be 4-5s before the controller wakes up, reconnects with the console, and sends the button press. This high latency makes the last problem worse: Touchy volume control. The shiny stripe on the bottom part of the controller is a capacitive touch controller that is mapped to the volume. You slide your finger up and down here to adjust the volume. Except that due to the wakeup, it might take a number of seconds before anything happens. Or other times, it will register touches from your pocket or your leg, or a dog nose, and it will hysterically change the volume on you. Worse is that the strip isn't actually convenient to any of the fingers of the hand you are holding the control with. Adjusting the volume is needlessly a 2-handed task. So, no, I don't like it. I like having a media-center, Roku-style controller much better than the weighty and unwieldy game controller, but I'd trade it for a better design in an instant.

Well engineered product
See my full review of the NVidia Shield that was bought with this remote. The remote. WOW. I watched one review of the Shield against an Xbox, PS4 some other Android TV device, and the reviewer for some reason hated the remote. Well, all I can say he was soooo WRONG. It is small, sleek and VERY well engineered. Full anodised aluminium back, with only the essential buttons, and a touch sensitive volume slide down the middle of the 2 rubber middle grips. It fits well in your hand and doesn’t look clunky lying around. Definitely my favourite thing about the Shield. It has a headphone jack and a micro-usb charging port. It works just beautifully, best of all when you enable CEC, the volume control, controls the Receiver volume and not just the volume output of the Shield. Again, just perfect. The Mic is very sensitive so normal speaking voice is all that is required. The headphone jack, great, now I can watch movies on the TV with headphones plugged into the remote and not disturb anyone else when I am catching up early morning or late night on my stuff. Sound quality is excellent no Bluetooth crackling or anything.
